New Mahindra Thar Facelift – Design

If you have seen the Thar Roxx, you already have a pretty good idea of where this facelift is heading. Mahindra is clearly doing what makes perfect sense, giving it the sharper, more refined design language of its bigger sibling and bringing it down to the original 3-door.

At the front, the facelift features circular headlamps that sit flush with the grille. C-shaped LED DRLs add a modern touch, while the grille and bumper maintain a rugged yet refined appearance. The side profile remains largely unchanged, but the facelift could adopt 18-inch alloy wheels from the Roxx, along with updated LED tail lamps with new detailing inspired by the Roxx, to complete the package.

Features

This is probably the area where Thar fans have been waiting for improvement the most. The current Thar is a great off-roader, but it has always lagged behind rivals in features. The facelift looks set to change that.
Inside, the cabin will continue with an all-black theme. With its last update, it now comes with the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the Thar Roxx. Likely additions for the facelift include ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror, and push-button start.

Powertrain – New Mahindra Thar Facelift

The facelifted Thar is expected to retain its existing engine lineup: the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel producing 119 bhp and 300 Nm; the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel making 132 bhp and 300 Nm; and the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol delivering 152 bhp and 300 Nm on manual variants and 320 Nm on the automatic variant.
Transmission options will remain: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. The 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol will continue to be offered in 4WD versions, while the 1.5-litre diesel is only offered in RWD.

Expected Price And Launch

The current Mahindra Thar 3-door is priced between Rs 11.90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and Rs 21.40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Thar 3-door facelift is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model, a modest increase of perhaps Rs 20,000 to 40,000 across variants. The Thar 3-door facelift could debut sometime in late 2026. A festive season reveal or a year-end launch would make the most commercial sense for Mahindra.
