Upcoming JSW SUV!

Everyone in the auto industry is talking about JSW. It has promised big things with the Jetour T2, Chery iCar v23 and the Jaecoo J5, and now there is one more addition to its list of upcoming SUVs – the Chery Tiggo 7L. The Tiggo 7L has been patented in India, confirming that we will be seeing it on Indian roads very soon.

The Tiggo 7L has been patented under Chery Automobiles. JSW has partnered up with Chery to bring its Chinese models to India, and the Tiggo is one of them. We can take a thorough look at the Tiggo 7L thanks to the Chinese-spec model. It has the prevalent SUV stance found on most models on sale. But what could make it stand out in Indian traffic are its quirky taillights and massive grille. It is a 4.65 m SUV, slightly shorter than rivals such as the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV7XO. The Tiggo 7L is the extended version of the Tiggo 7, but JSW will bring it to India to cater to the practicality-loving market. It could be offered in 5, 6 and 7-seater configurations, but don’t expect it to be as roomy as its rivals.

JSW Tiggo 7L – Features & Specifications

JSW will try to compensate for the length with the equipment list. It could get a load of features like –

  • 15.6-inch infotainment screen
  • 10.25-inch digital driver’s display
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Powered front seats
  • Wireless charging
  • Ventilated front seats

The Chinese spec gets two powertrain options –

  • 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (154 bhp)
  • 1.6-litre turbo petrol (197 bhp)

The transmission options are limited to a dual-clutch gearbox. However, we expect JSW to offer only one of the above engines and an additional manual alternative in the Indian market.

JSW Tiggo 7L – Expected Pricing & Launch

The Tiggo 7L costs between 78,900 and 99,900 Yuan, which roughly translates to around Rs 11 lakh – Rs 14 lakh. It would dominate the market if this pricing is also offered in India, but unfortunately, that is very likely. Nonetheless, it would be priced competitively between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

JSW has a packed year ahead with 3 SUV launches. This means the Tiggo 7L launch is quite far off. You would have to wait until mid 2027 at the very least if you are planning to buy one.
