Kia Sorento Spotted For The First Time!
Currently, the gap between SUVs like the XUV7XO and Fortuner is too wide. And now Kia is set to fill that gap with the Kia Sorento. If you wish to upgrade from the Seltos and don’t want to spend Rs 50 lakh on the Fortuner, there are very few upgrades to choose from. Luckily, this dilemma will soon be over.
From these spy shots, we can see it is a pretty long car. The global-spec model is 4.8m long, making it longer than the Fortuner. From the rear, you can also see that it is a pretty wide car, which means the interior will be quite roomy. It has the conventional SUV-like stance.
Despite the camouflage, it was easy for us to spot that it was a Kia, thanks to the vertical headlamps. Moreover, the 20-inch alloy wheels are identical to the ones found on the US-spec model. You can also spot the C-shaped taillights through the camouflage. The car is also right-hand drive, suggesting this is the production-spec model.

Features & Specifications
The US-spec model features the distinct Kia dashboard, with a dual-screen setup and an ergonomic layout. It also gets a long equipment list that includes –

- 12-speaker Bose sound system
- Panoramic sunroof
- Level 2 ADAS
Kia has officially announced that the Sorento will be launched as a hybrid. We could see the hybrid tech being connected to a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Details about the transmission are still unclear, but we do know it will get an AWD drivetrain. Fuel efficiency is often a concern with such big SUVs, but the hybrid tech will soften the blow. Furthermore, if the market demands it, Kia could also bring it in a diesel avatar.

Kia Sorento Spotted – Expected Launch & Pricing
Kia has confirmed it will launch before 2030, but that timeline is too long. We could see its launch as early as late 2026 or as late as early 2027. The Sorento has been rumoured to come to India for a long time, but this is the first time we have actually seen a production-spec model on Indian roads.
The Sorento will target the empty Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh segment. This Tucson and Tiguan used to reside in this bracket, but now, except for the Jeep Meridian, it is quite vacant. Can Kia capitalise on this opening? We will have to wait for the answer.
