1. Renault Boreal – Upcoming 7-Seaters

Renault revived one of its best SUVs, the Duster, and it created a massive buzz in the Indian market. However, the brand is now planning to bring in a new 7-seater SUV for those who seek a more family-oriented yet adventurous SUV. It will be based on the same platform as the Duster. The highlight here is that the Bigster will get 4X4, not AWD, which could give the 3-row SUV an edge in the segment, considering no other SUV offers 4X4.

We expect the Boreal 4X4 to be offered with the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. It could get a few additional features, which could also include rear ventilated seats (captain seats). The SUV will compete with the likes of the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO, and we can expect it to be priced anywhere between ₹18 lakh and ₹28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Renault could launch the SUV by the end of this year or early next year.

2. Nissan Tekton 7-Seater

Much like the Renault Bigster, this SUV is Nissan’s 7-seater SUV, which will be based on its upcoming Duster alternative, the Tekton. While the Tekton is yet to be launched, we know that it will borrow and share most of its components with the Duster – features, platform, and powertrains. However, we can expect to see a distinctive design to set it apart from Bigster. Nissan may offer this SUV with 4X4, like the upcoming Bigster. However, we can expect to see a difference in the features list.

Nissan may offer the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, which will be followed by the 1.8-litre hybrid engine. This SUV will also go against the likes of the XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. We can expect it to be priced around ₹18 lakh and ₹27 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Nissan may introduce the SUV by December 2026 or in the first quarter of 2027.

3. Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift – Upcoming 7-Seaters

Mahindra’s best-selling SUV will soon be getting an update to give it more features and tech and a fresh look. The Scorpio N has been quite the package for someone looking for a rugged ladder-on-frame SUV, with off-road capabilities and a big, practical cabin. However, it looks like Mahindra is trying to further enhance this package as seen in multiple spy shots of the Scorpio N facelift. We can expect to see design changes to the headlights, tail lights, new alloy wheels, and front and rear bumpers.

Expected features include a larger touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and much more. Mahindra may leave both the powertrain options untouched, considering they both offer best-in-class performance. The Scorpio N facelift could be priced between ₹17 lakh and ₹32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Mahindra could launch the SUV in the latter half of 2026.

4. Tata Safari EV

The Harrier.ev has been a successful product for Tata, quite capable off-road and tremendous performance. And Tata may want some more of this cake, as the brand will likely introduce an EV version of its Safari. That’s right! This will be Tata’s first 7-seater electric SUV, which will take on the Mahindra XEV 9S. We expect the Safari EV to get the same powertrain as the Harrier.ev – 65kWh battery pack and a 75kWh battery pack. The SUV will also get a dual-motor QWD setup (Quad-Wheel Drive) with the larger battery pack, while the smaller battery pack will likely get a single motor and RWD.

Rumours suggest Tata is working on a larger 80kWh battery pack, which will offer better range. Expected features include a 14.5-inch touchscreen, a 540-degree camera, Level 2+ ADAS, a digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, ventilated first and second row seats, and the list goes on. We can expect the Safari EV to be launched by August 2026 with a price tag ranging between ₹23 lakh and ₹32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

5. Kia Sorento – Upcoming 7-Seaters

Kia has been cooking something special for those who seek a premium SUV, with a practical 7-seater cabin and loads of features – the Sorento. While it is already on sale in international markets, it will soon make it to India. The 7-seater SUV has been spotted a few times on Indian roads. By the looks looks of it, it seems close to being production-ready. This will be Kia’s attempt to take on the mighty Fortuner.

It will likely be loaded with features and tech to have an upper hand in its segment. It will take on the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and the VW Tayron R-line. The Sorento will likely get a hybrid powertrain, which will be a first for Kia in India. We expect it to get a slew of features like powered and ventilated front seats, a twin 24-inch screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, a Level 2 ADAS suite, and much more. Kia could price the Sorento around ₹50 lakh to ₹60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We expect to be launched by the end of this year.

6. MG Starlight 7-seater

There are a slew of Chinese cars coming to India, and one of them is the Wuling Darion. It is a 7-seater MPV which will challenge the beloved Toyota Innova. The Darion is a premium MPV with a very spacious cabin, offering great practicality. It is expected to be offered as a PHEV and an EV, allowing for a wider range of choice. The plug-in hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine and is mated to a 20.5kWh pack producing a combined output of 195bhp & 230Nm.

The EV version is offered with a 69.2kWh battery pack that can go up to 540km on a single charge. We expect to see features like a 12.8-inch touchscreen, level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, powered first and second row seats, and the list goes on. This new MPV could be priced between ₹30 lakh and ₹40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Chinese MPV is expected to arrive by the end of this year or early next year.

7. Volkswagen Tayron

Volkswagen has already launched the Tayron R-line at quite an aggressive price point. However, to make this 7-seater SUV even more accessible, VW may bring in a non-R-line variant. This version could get FWD instead of AWD, which is available on the R-line variants. It is likely that this model will get a detuned version of the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. We believe it will get most of the features from the R-line version, which includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats, level 2 ADAS and the list goes on. However, being a more affordable variant, it could miss out on features like the massaging front seats. We expect VW to price the SUV around ₹45 lakh to ₹50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Volkswagen could introduce this SUV by the festive season.

So, which of these 7-seaters would you buy?
