Nissan is making a strong comeback in India, and the centrepiece of that plan is the Nissan Tekton, a mid-size SUV launching in 2026, with a bigger, more practical 7-seater version set to follow in late 2026 or early 2027. Nissan is going all-in with a proper family SUV. The 7-seater won’t simply be a stretched version of the regular Tekton; Nissan has confirmed it will be a distinct product, essentially the Indian counterpart to the Renault Bigster. Built on the Renault Global Modular Platform (RGMP), the same solid base used under the new Renault Duster, this SUV is designed for real-world Indian families who need space, comfort, and reliability.

The Nissan Tekton has a commanding look, a vertically oriented “V-Motion” grille, bold C-shaped LED DRLs, muscular headlamps, and a raised bonnet with “TEKTON” lettering stamped right on it. On the sides, it rides on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, carries a clean SUV silhouette, and even hides its rear door handles in the C-pillar, giving it a cleaner look. At the rear, connected LED taillights and a chunky bumper with skid plate detailing round off the rugged character.

For the 7-seater version specifically, Nissan is going with a longer wheelbase to make room for that third row. The expected length sits around 4,600 mm, giving it a proper road presence.

  • 7-inch fully digital driver’s display
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ventilated front seats
  • 360-degree surround view camera with blind spot monitor
  • 8-speaker sound system

  • Automatic climate control with rear AC vents
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Multiple drive and terrain modes

There are three powertrain options expected: a 1.0L turbo petrol (100 hp / 160 Nm) with a 6-speed manual for everyday driving, and a more powerful 1.3L turbo petrol (163 hp / 280 Nm) that comes with both manual and DCT options. It will also get a 1.8L strong hybrid (160 hp combined) with an automatic for better efficiency, using a petrol engine assisted by two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack that charges itself through regenerative braking, so no external charging is needed. Along with this, the Tekton 7-seater could also get a 4X4 option, similar to the Bigster, making it more capable for rough roads.
