Renault Duster Hybrid – Why Should You Wait?

Renault has announced it will launch the Duster hybrid by Diwali this year. The Duster has become quite popular with the general public, and a similiar response could be expected with the hybrid. You get rugged looks and a feature-loaded interior, along with good fuel-efficiency figures. The ICE Duster has been priced aggressively, and we expect the same with the hybrid. Renault can undercut its rivals by pricing it between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
The Duster has one of the best feature lists in the segment, including a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, Level-2 ADAS, an electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, and wireless charging. This list is similiar to the Victoris, but better than that of the Hyryder and Grand Vitara. Not to mention, the Duster may be identical to its rivals in length, but it offers a 57mm longer wheelbase for better cabin comfort. So as far as value for money is concerned, the Duster hybrid seems to have the Marutis and Toyota beat.

Maruti & Toyota Hybrid SUVs – Why Should You Buy?

Renault also revealed that the Duster hybrid has already been sold out for 2026. You would have to wait until next year to get your hands on one. However, many bookings are cancelled after the launch, and you would have to be really quick to take one of those slots. If you are not willing to wait that long, opt for the other hybrid options. Plus, we know for a fact that its rivals offer 20+ kmpl mileage with ease, and the Duster hybrid’s economy figures remain a mystery.
Moreover, Toyota’s hybrid tech has been tried and tested for Indian roads. The Duster hybrid is yet to be tested under Indian conditions. There have been minimal complaints with the international-spec, and we expect it to fare well on Indian roads as well. Overall, with the Victoris and other hybrids, you get a safer sense of security since they are established products.

Renault Duster Hybrid – Our Verdict!

On paper, the Duster hybrid offers better value for money, given Renault puts an attractive price tag on it. Looks, features and practicality, it has all of it. But if you want the car right now and a proven product, you are better off with the Grand Vitara, Hyryder or the Victoris.
