We have some MPVs that provide a middle ground between them, such as the Maruti Suzuki XL6. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 could be a practical family carrier, with decent technological advancements and better efficiency. Maruti Suzuki XL6 Facelift-

Maruti Suzuki XL6 is essentially a more premium sibling of the Ertiga. Over the standard Ertiga, the XL6 offered SUV-like styling, captain seats in the second row, and was introduced through the Nexa network, reflecting a slightly upmarket positioning. This 6-seater MPV from Maruti lets buyers get something close to the Innova without stepping into the higher price bracket. And with the update, this could get even better. Here is what is expected to be changed in the XL6 facelift-

Looks-

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift is expected to retain the MPV silhouette with rugged, SUV-inspired styling. We could get the chunky body cladding around the XL6 facelift. The front fascia could use some revisions to the grille and LED headlamps to give it a sleeker look. Also, changes can be made to the taillamps, with chrome elements connecting the two taillamps; these could be replaced with an LED connect bar unit. To give the facelift a final touch, Maruti might introduce a new set of alloy wheels. What else?

Interiors & Features-

When you step inside the cabin, the XL6 facelight could welcome you with a larger 9-inch infotainment system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, a fully digital driver’s display. Other features you should look for include ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and more. There is a slight chance that, given the strong demand for sunroofs, Maruti might offer one in the XL6 facelift. For driver assistance, the XL6 already gets a 360-degree camera and cruise control and could also have an ADAS system derived from other Marutis, like the Grand Vitara. There hasn’t been any crash testing done for the XL6 yet, but it’s expected to be rated above 3 stars based on what we know about the Ertiga, which also shares the platform. As Maruti has been focusing on safety lately, this could also improve with the update.

Powertrain-

Under the hood, the XL6 features a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 101bhp and 136.8Nm of torque. This 1.5-litre unit is also offered in a CNG variant, which produces about 86bhp and 121.5Nm. Paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed AT gearbox. The current generation of the XL6 features mild-hybrid tech, which assists the engine to some extent, but with the facelift, Maruti is expected to take it one step further. There are speculations that two new technologies could be introduced in the XL6 facelift. The first is the strong-hybrid technology, as seen on the Grand Vitara, and the second could be the much-anticipated underbody CNG. With these technologies, the facelift might claim a mileage of over 22 kmpl.

Rivals-

Considering the features and practicality, the direct rival to the Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift will be the Kia Carens Clavis. But when differentiated by the sale, the XL6 has to compete with its sibling, the Ertiga. With Maruti’s reliability, wide service network and affordable maintenance and running costs, Ertiga outsells every other MPV in the segment. But with the new features, advanced hybrid tech, and increased mileage, many Indian families might consider the XL6 over others in the future, given the comfort and practicality it offers. Which one would you pick?

Expected Launch & Pricing-

There is no official word on the launch of the XL6 facelift, but given that automakers offer facelifts within a 4-5-year cycle, this one could launch by the end of 2026. The ongoing XL6 is priced between Rs 13.57 lakh and Rs 17.01 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With all the updates and new features, the facelift could be priced with a hike of about Rs 30,000 to Rs 80,000. This hike might vary by variant; we could observe the highest price hike among the hybrid variants offered. What do you think about this updated XL6?
