Motorcycle Volumes Down, Scooters in High Demand

TVS faced supply chain issues in Apr 2026 which affected the production and hence, dispatch volumes took a hit despite robust retails

TVS Motor Company posted YoY sales growth of 7 percent in Apr 2026 with overall sales (two-wheeler + three wheeler) of 473,970 units as compared to 443,716 units during the same month last year. The retails remained robust but the dispatch volumes were affected due to supply chain issues which resulted in lower production. The company faced shortage of workforce, raw material and consumable material (especially in tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers) while limited container availability was also a concern for timely international dispatches.

“Counter measures have been implemented, and production is expected to recover in May 2026,” said the Hosur-based two-wheeler brand in an official statement. Talking about two-wheeler sales, TVS retailed a total of 455,333 units in Apr 2026, which was up by 6 percent on a YoY basis, as the volumes stood at 430,150 units in Apr 2025. It continued to be the third largest two-wheeler brand in India behind Hero and Honda.

If we specifically talk about motorcycle sales, it faced a setback as volumes went down from 220,347 units in Apr 2025 to 200,039 units in Apr 2026. The scooter segment, on the other hand, turned out to be a savior with a strong YoY growth of 24 percent as sales increased from 169,741 units in Apr 2025 to 211,158 units in Apr 2026.
