Maruti Suzuki Hustler – Styling

The Hustler is not a conventional hatchback. It has a boxy, bold, tall body silhouette that resembles it with Jimny. But it contains the compact footprints of the S-Presso. With its flat front fascia, prominent C- and D-pillars, and crossover-inspired elements such as subtle body cladding and roof rails, the Hustler stands out as a retro-modern contender.
Inside, the playful aesthetic continues. We can expect a cabin featuring body-colored trim pieces around the dashboard. This would create a youthful and vibrant atmosphere inside. The cabin is likely to feature a 7-inch or 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and would include practical storage areas.

Performance and Capability

The Japanese-spec Hustler comes with a 660cc engine. The Indian version would get locally relevant power plants. It is speculated to adopt Maruti’s 1.0-litre or 1.2-litre petrol engines, paired with either an AMT or a manual transmission to balance performance with the brand’s proven fuel efficiency. There is also potential for a CNG variant, which would further appeal to a budget-conscious commuter. While an AWD option is available for the global model, it remains to be seen whether it will be offered in India to keep costs competitive.

Maruti Suzuki Hustler – Positioning and Competition

The Hustler is to arrive as a potential successor to the Ignis. The vehicle would bridge the gap between Maruti’s affordable hatchbacks and its premium compact SUVs. When launched, it would land in the middle of the micro-SUV battle, directly challenging popular models like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Its compact dimensions (approx. 3.4 meters in length) make it ideal for tight city traffic.

Expected Launch Timeline

While there are no official statements from Maruti, Consistent testing on Indian streets suggests that the brand is evaluating its feasibility. We could see an official introduction by mid-2027. Price estimates for the Indian market currently hover between ₹7 lakh and ₹12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), depending on the variant and powertrain.
