Hyundai i20 Facelift- What To Expect? » MotorOctane

Among the top 5 automakers in India, Hyundai ranks fourth. And you might be thinking that solely because of the massive sales of the Hyundai Creta, but that’s not completely true. Even though the Creta manages to sell in huge numbers, there are also other contributors to Hyundai’s success. One of them is the Hyundai i20, which stands strong as the pillar for the brand in the premium hatchback segment. It’s been a while since Hyundai updated the i20. Here is everything you can expect from the upcoming i20 facelift-

Hyundai i20 Facelift Spotted!

The Hyundai i20 can be considered as one of the most feature-rich and stylish options in the premium hatchback segment. However, the earlier sighting of a Hyundai hatch undergoing testing suggests the brand is preparing to introduce the i20 facelift. From the spotted test mule, we can identify a few updates. Curious what the possible updates could be?

Looks-

Overall silhouette and stance of the sporty hatchback is to be retained, but with some cosmetic changes. We can expect a redesigned front grille, new LED headlamps, and revised DRLs. To the rear, the i20 facelift might feature an updated taillight. Also, both bumpers could be tweaked to give this hatchback a more sportier looks. What else?

Interiors & Features-

On the inside, we can expect the more significant changes. The 12.5-inch dual-screen setup is expected to remain, along with other features such as the 7-speaker sound system, electric sunroof, wireless charger, and much more. In addition, there might be driver-assistance features, including a 360-degree camera and ADAS.

Powertrain-

Under the hood, the i20 facelift is expected to remain unchanged. The updated hatchback could still be equipped with the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine producing 87bhp and 115Nm of torque. This engine is to be paired with the 5-speed MT or a CVT. The N-line version of the i20 is also likely to retain the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, along with a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT.

Rivals-

The major rivals against the Hyundai i20 facelift will be the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz. Which premium hatchback would you choose? Well, hatchbacks aren’t the only competition; the i20 facelift also has to contend with compact SUVs like the Tata Punch and the Hyundai Exter.

Expected Launch & Pricing-

We have seen spy shots of the i20 facelift being tested not only abroad but also in India. This indicates that the automaker is definitely planning to introduce the i20 facelift very soon and to stick to its plan of unveiling 26 models by 2030. With that said, we can expect the i20 facelift to launch in India by the end of 2026 or early 2027. The current i20 models are priced between Rs 7.08 lakh and Rs 12.59 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). And if the facelift gets advanced features like a 360-degree camera and ADAS, then we can expect a price hike of about Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. What do you think about this new updated Hyundai?
