Cars Getting Replaced – MG Hector for MG Starlight

MG has no plans to update its Hector. Instead, they are up for replacing it with the much better MG Starlight 560. The Starlight would sit on MG’s modular F-platform, designed to accommodate multiple powertrains. This is a big shift from Hector’s current architecture, and it shows MG is preparing for a multi-energy future. Design-wise, the SUV has a flatter bonnet, sharper LED lighting and a stronger road presence.
Powertrain changes include –
- HEV – 1.5-litre petrol with a 20.5kWh battery (197 bhp & 230 Nm).
- EV – 56.7 kWh battery (claimed 500 km range).
Features –
- large 14-inch touch screen
- level 2 ADAS
- panoramic sunroof
- ventilated seats
The Starlight is expected to be launched by late 2026, with on-road Mumbai pricing likely between ₹23 Lakh and ₹32 lakh.

Cars Getting Replaced – MG ZS EV for MG4

The MG4 is a born electric car, unlike the ZS EV, which is essentially an ICE-to-EV conversion. Built on the SIGMA platform, it is in a Rear Wheel Drive layout. That makes it unique in its segment.
Two battery options are expected:
- 51 kWh pack with 167 bhp and roughly 350 km range
- 64 kWh pack with 201 bhp and around 450 km range
The design would be sportier and more aerodynamic with sharp LED signatures and a minimalistic interior featuring a floating console and MG’s i-Smart tech. Launch is expected in early 2027, with pricing ranging from ₹19 lakh to ₹28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Cars Getting Replaced – Maruti Ignis for Maruti Y43 Micro-SUV

The Ignis would be replaced by a new micro-SUV, codenamed Y43, designed to directly take on the Tata Punch. This one will be sold via NEXA, meaning Maruti will position it as a slightly premium offering. It would be based on the 5th-gen HEARTECT platform, which focuses on better safety and structural rigidity.
Powertrain details:
- New 1.2-litre Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine
- Mild-hybrid tech
- 5-speed manual and AMT options
Expected features include –
- 9-inch touchscreen
- 6 airbags
- Electric sunroof
- Ventilated seats and much more.
Launch is likely around mid-2027, with prices between ₹8 lakh and ₹13 lakh (on-road Mumbai).

Cars Getting Replaced – Hyundai Alcazar for Its Next-Gen

The next-gen version of Alcazar would move to the K3 platform, shared with Kia and global Hyundai models. This allows for better space packaging, which is critical because the current Alcazar’s third row is a bit cramped. We say it would be replaced because Hyundai will likely rename the SUV, add a longer body, a more usable third row, and a more premium interior.
Expected Powertrain:
- 1.5-litre turbo petrol (around 158 bhp), with an option for a hybrid powertrain
- 1.5-litre diesel (around 114 bhp)
Expected features list :
- Trinity-style panoramic display setup
- Level 2+ ADAS
- Multi-zone climate control
- Reclining second-row seats
Launch is expected by late 2027, priced between ₹22 lakh and ₹31 lakh (on-road Mumbai).

Cars Getting Replaced – Jeep Compass For A New SUV with CMP/STLA Smart Platform

Jeep was always a bit on the premium pricing side, and this replacement aims to fix that. The next-gen Compass successor will be built on the CMP/STLA Smart platform (shared with models like Citroën Basalt), which is more cost-efficient and locally adaptable.
Engine options could include:
- 1.4-litre turbo petrol producing around 160 bhp and 250 Nm
- A possible 1.2-litre mild-hybrid (48V) setup with around 145bhp
The design would draw inspiration from the Jeep Renegade, resulting in a more boxy, rugged look while remaining urban-friendly. Inside, expect a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system and improved off-road capability modes.
Launch is targeted for mid-2027, with pricing expected between ₹21 lakh and ₹28 lakh (on-road Mumbai).
