Maruti Suzuki dominated April 2026 with an extraordinary 1,87,704 units, a 35% year-on-year jump and a 10.8% improvement over March 2026’s 1,69,428 units. This wasn’t just a good month. It was the brand’s highest-ever monthly domestic sales figure. A significant GST reduction on small cars triggered a surge in demand, particularly in the hatchback and entry-level SUV space. The Dzire, WagonR, Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, and Grand Vitara continued to be the backbone of these massive numbers.

Hyundai Motor India achieved monthly domestic sales of 51,902 units in April 2026, its highest-ever April tally since inception, with 17% year-on-year growth. Compared to March 2026’s 55,064 units, there was a slight 5.7% month-on-month dip, but the numbers still impressed. The Venue was a standout performer, registering its highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 12,420 units, with Hyundai attributing this partly to the model’s recent five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Hyundai’s focus on safety ratings is clearly resonating with buyers.

Toyota rounded out the top five with 30,159 domestic units, a 21% year-on-year improvement, though it saw a 14.1% month-on-month decline from March 2026’s 35,125 units. The Innova Crysta, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux form the core of Toyota’s lineup. Still, the real story is the Innova HyCross, the premium MPV, which crossed the 2 lakh cumulative sales milestone in April, a notable highlight for the brand. Toyota’s hybrid push is winning over buyers who want fuel efficiency without fully going electric, a sweet spot in today’s Indian market.
