Tata’s Mini-Sierra – What Do We Know?

We spotted a test mule some time ago, and by the looks of it, it looked like a smaller version of the Sierra. The connected slim taillight and ORVMs indicate that Tata is trying to replicate the Sierra’s stance. If not for the smaller dimensions and an indent on the tailgate, it looks identical to the Sierra. Moreover, the number plate also suggested that it was a Tata car.
It is difficult to figure out where this mini-Sierra will fit into its lineup. Its SUV range is packed with the Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Sierra, Harrier and Safari. So where could it possibly fit? Industry sources suggest that the next-gen Nexon will be based on the ARGOS platform, so could this be the new Nexon?

Mini-Sierra – Features & Specifications

We expect it to be packed with features like –
- Level-2 ADAS
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered driver seat
- Ventilated front seats
- 12.3-inch infotainment screen
- 10.25-inch digital driver’s display
- Heads-up display
- Wireless charger
- Leatherette seats
- Two-spoke steering wheel
If it uses the ARGOS platform, it could get all powertrain options – diesel, CNG, petrol and hybrid. And being Tata, it will also get an electric counterpart. It would get the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, along with a 1.5-litre diesel. Gearbox options could include a 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed AT. The EV could be offered with a 45kWh and 55kWh battery pack.

Tata’s Mini-Sierra – Expected Pricing & Launch

Tata could price it aggressively in the Rs 8-17 lakh bracket if it is the Nexon replacement. The Nexon is the best-selling SUV in the market, and with better looks and features, the sky’s the limit for its sales. However, Tata could also bring it as an all-new model. It is also important to note that the spyshots could simply be of another Tata Sierra test mule, and it’s the camera fooling us. It is all speculation at this stage, and we can only wait for Tata’s announcement on this matter. The next-gen Nexon is expected to be launched within the next 6-10 months. This means that we could possibly see the mini-Sierra very soon.
