One of the first few Chinese cars to reach the Indian market is the Jetour T2. It is a rugged boxy SUV that caught attention with its similarities to the Land Rover Defender. It will be launched by this year’s festive season and could be a strong competitor in its segment. Much like the Defender, the JeTour T2 sports a boxy design with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The vehicle has Level-2 ADAS for safety with adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and more. There is also a panoramic sunroof for the top models. As for performance, the SUV is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) globally. It also gets a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces around 245-254 bhp and 390Nm or torque. However, the PHEV setup in the top-spec variants gives up to 375-380 bhp of combined output depending on the configuration. The Jetour T2 is expected to come with a price tag of around ₹40 lakh on the road in Mumbai.

The Jaecoo J5 is being positioned as a compact SUV. The vehicle is expected to come as an early offering from the JSW-Chery collaboration. Targeted at the Indian compact SUV segment, it would lock horns with popular models like the Hyundai Creta, the Tata Sierra, and the Renault Duster. We expected to be an affordable contender in its segment. We expect both electric and hybrid versions for our market. The hybrid option could get a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor (SHS-H system), producing a total of 221 bhp and 295 Nm of torque. For the EV, it could get the 61 kWh battery with a claimed 460 km range with a 200+ bhp front-mounted motor, which could take the vehicle from 0-100 in about 7.3 seconds. Fast charging up to 130 kW could also be expected. The vehicle could arrive in late 2026 and would be priced from ₹19 lakh to ₹23 lakh on-road in Mumbai. It would rival the Skoda Kushaq, Creta EV and the Taigun.

Wuling Darion is an MPV that is aiming to disrupt the premium MPV segment in India. Its 4.9-meter length and sliding doors would put it directly up against the Kia Carnival.
