Hatchbacks might be Maruti’s forte, but that hasn’t stopped it from entering the SUV segment. The Grand Vitara and Victoris have been great successes, but the biggest success of them all is the Brezza. Its healthy sales numbers suggest strong demand. But if you are planning to buy one, here are some key details to be aware of.

Maruti Brezza Facelift

Maruti is currently working on a facelift for the Brezza. The recent spotting of its test mules indicates an imminent launch. The launch could be as soon as within the next 2 months. With all facelifts, you expect the car to only get positive updates. But the same can’t be said about this one. So here is all the information you need to answer the question – “Should I wait 2 months for the Brezza facelift?”

Why You Should Hurry?

The outgoing Brezza is offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (102 bhp and 137 Nm) as standard. Many Brezza owners appreciate the sound of the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol, but future Brezza owners may miss out on this. The issue with this engine is that it may be appreciated by the car-enthusiasts, but it makes it ineligible for the sub-4m tax break. Its predecessor was offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which made it eligible for tax benefits, but since the Maruti diesel debacle, the Brezza has been left stranded.
The 1.5-litre engine is the reason the Brezza is overpriced compared to the likes of the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Skoda Kylaq. This makes the Brezza, one of the most expensive SUVs in the segment (only behind the Kia Syros), which is very “un-Maruti”. So if you are a fan of the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, better hurry.
Furthermore, the Brezza doesn’t have many design flaws. Maruti may change up the recipe a bit with the facelift. Maruti is usually conservative with facelifts, but nonetheless, many people would feel like the current model doesn’t need messing about with. If you are one of these people, this is the right time to buy one since the discounts will be higher, looks will remain unchanged, and it will have the desired powertrain.

Maruti Brezza Facelift – Why You Should Wait!

To replace the 1.5-litre NA engine, a smaller 1.2-litre NA petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo are expected to be offered with the facelift. These engine options are currently offered with the Fronx, but the Brezza could get a more powerful engine tune. But more importantly, the pricing will be reduced. Moreover, an underbody CNG layout is also expected. The price cut could be as significant as Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh. And with this price cut, sales will see a substantial rise, potentially challenging the Nexon’s spot as the best seller.
From the test mules, minimal aesthetic changes were spotted. And this is good news since the Brezza’s looks are widely accepted. Minor tweaks are expected to the front and rear ends, while the overall profile would remain identical. Fresher colour options and alloy wheel designs are also expected.
The feature list will also get important updates. It is expected to get a larger infotainment screen, powered driver seats, and front-seat ventilation, which have become the segment norm nowadays. Features like an electric sunroof, cruise control, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, and a heads-up display will be carried over.
