So, if you are planning on buying a new SUV under ₹20 lakh in the near future, here are 5 exciting SUVs to wait for!

1. Tata Sierra EV – Upcoming Electric SUVs


First up, we have the electric version of theTata Sierra, which is expected to be launched on May 19, 2026. One of the highlights of the upcoming Sierra.ev could be the QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) system, making it the only SUV in its segment to offer it. We can expect to see a 55kWh and 65kWh battery pack – the smaller could be borrowed from the Curvv.ev while the larger could be borrowed from the Harrier.ev. While it will continue to get most of the features from the existing ICE Sierra, the EV version could get additional features like a HUD (with triple screen), Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and much more. We can expect Tata to price the Sierra.ev between ₹17 lakh & ₹25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

2. Boxy Hyundai SUV


Hyundai has been one of the best carmakers in India, with substantial success from the Creta, Venue and the Aura. However, things are about to change as a new Hyundai SUV will soon enter the Indian market. It was spotted for the first time in hefty camouflage, revealing very few details. However, the boxy design, LED lights and wheels gave us a slight glimpse of what it could look like.
Expected features include Level 2 ADAS, a trinity screen setup, ventilated front seats, a sunroof and the list goes on. It is expected to offer battery options similar to its rival, the Tata Punch EV, likely featuring two battery powertrains: 30 kWh and 40 kWh. While Hyundai has not yet revealed the launch timeline for this SUV, we believe the SUV could be introduced around the festive season! Hyundai could price this electric SUV anywhere between ₹13 lakh & ₹20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

3. Kia Syros EV – Upcoming Electric SUVs


While this could be quite a debate, the Syros is one of the best SUVs in its segment. It gets best-in-class features, a spacious cabin, and punchy performance. The EV could get two battery options: a 42 kWh pack (390 km) and a 51.4 kWh pack (473 km). It will get features like a trinity screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, ventilated rear seats, level 2 ADAS, and the list goes on. Kia could launch the Syros EV by the end of this year or early next year. Expect the electric SUV to be priced between ₹16 lakh and ₹22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

4. Honda 0 Alpha


Honda has been lagging behind in India when it comes to the EV game. However, the Japanese brand has taken a leap forward. It has started testing its first-ever electric SUV for India, the 0 Alpha. The SUV gets a distinctive and futuristic look with unique design elements, setting it apart from its potential rivals. Until now, only the concept of this SUV has been showcased, revealing the exterior and interior elements. The dashboard looks like something from the future. However, it is unlikely that the production-spec model will have the same interior. Expected features include a triple screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, powered and ventilated front seats and the list goes on. We can expect Honda to price this SUV between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Honda will likely launch this SUV next year.

5. Renault Bridger – Upcoming Electric SUVs


The French carmaker recently unveiled its first-ever electric SUV for India – The Bridger. While this will be the brand’s first EV, it will also be available in ICE form. Renault has also confirmed that the Bridger will be offered with 4X4, pitting it against the likes of the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny. The 4X4 will not only be offered with the ICE version but also with the EV. Design-wise, the Bridger is unlike anything you’ve seen from the brand, with a boxy, rugged appearance that still sports a futuristic look. Renault has also confirmed that the SUV will get multiple other powertrain options, including hybrid and petrol. We can expect Renault to launch this SUV by mid-2027, with a price range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
