After a long wait, Nissan has finally announced that it will launch the Tekton in India on 9th July. However, instead of a full-fledged launch, we expect it to be an unveiling event, just to showcase the SUV, while the full price list will take some time. We expect the price to be revealed by the end of 2026, with a price range of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Here’s everything to know about this upcoming Japanese SUV –

Upcoming Japanese SUV – What’s New

The Nissan’s upcoming mid-size SUV will be based heavily on the Renault Duster; both sharing the same platform – RGMP. However, the teaser images suggest that the styling details of the upcoming Nissan SUV will carry over from its bigger sibling, the Nissan Patrol.
In terms of looks, the Nissan Tekton features C-shaped LED headlights and integrated LED DRLs. The Tekton logo on the bonnet suits the car. The 18-inch alloy wheels enhance the SUV’s overall look. The rear is highlighted by C-shaped LED taillights and a chunky silver skid plate, giving it a sportier look. With the Patrol-inspired looks, we expect the SUV to offer a commanding road presence.

Given that it’s based on the Renault Duster, we could see a similar feature set on the Nissan Tekton too. The expected suite of features includes a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ADAS level 2, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 6 airbags, and an electronic parking brake, among others. That said, the Tekton will be the first model in Nissan’s India lineup to offer ADAS. Moreover, we also expect the SUV to score a 5-star BNCAP safety rating, similar to the Renault Duster.
Powertrain-wise, expect the same 1-litre turbo petrol (102bhp/160Nm), a 1.3-litre turbo petrol (160bhp/280Nm) and a 1.8-litre petrol hybrid engine (163bhp/172Nm). Additionally, Nissan could also offer the Tekton with the option of a CNG powertrain; it could be the dual-cylinder retrofitted kit that was just offered with the Gravite.
