Mahindra will try to expand its lineup in India with new SUVs. The upcoming models are expected to include several new models underpinned by the brand’s new NU_IQ platform. At present, the brand doesn’t have any SUV that rivals the Hyundai Creta head-on, and with the hot segment, Mahindra is expected to launch a model in that lineup soon.

New Mahindra SUV Coming –

Currently, the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Scorpio N and XUV 7XO take on against the Hyundai Creta (price-wise). Now, the brand might look to have a perfect SUV that will take on the best-selling mid-size SUV. Creta has already held the title of the best-selling mid-size SUV in India, with average monthly sales of around 16,000.
The SUV maker had already showcased the NU_IQ platform and several concept models underpinned by that platform. Mahindra will start producing the NU_IQ-based models by 2027. This new platform can accommodate SUVs ranging from 3.9m to 4.32m in length. With this, we expect Mahindra to launch a new Creta rival, not like a more lifestyle SUV but a bit more family-oriented.

What To Expect?

As the mid-size SUV segment is growing, the new Mahindra’s family-oriented SUV might be the perfect fit for the market. Mahindra could launch a 5-seater model, priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Moreover, the model’s appearance could be similar to that of the Vision S model showcased by the brand.
Talking about the interiors, the Indian automaker will not shy away from offering a list of modern features and tech – expect a large infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, powered front seats with ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, reclining rear seats, and more. The model, like other Mahindra cars, might not have an automatic boot that opens and shuts.

Alongside these features, the model is also expected to be safe, with standard inclusions such as level 2 ADAS, six airbags, EPB, auto hold, TPMS, and more. Like the other Mahindra SUVs, this model is also expected to bag a 5-star safety rating.
One of its highlights will be the powertrain options: the Mahindra Creta rival can be expected with several powertrains, from petrol and diesel to hybrid and electric. Hyundai is already considering a hybrid powertrain for the Creta, and Mahindra’s plan could follow suit.
As this is just an assumption, the brand is expected to showcase products built on the new platform at the Auto Expo in the coming year.

Apart from that, the model could be launched by the end of 2027 or early 2028. Regarding pricing, the upcoming Mahindra SUV could be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). More information about the model is expected to come out as we near its launch.
