Tata Terra

Well, we are sure you haven’t heard this name before. However, thanks to industry sources, we know that Tata is working on a new sub-4-meter car, which will be a ground-up EV. The Terra is likely a part of Tata’s plan to bring in 7 new models by 2030. While Tata has kept all the details under wraps, we believe that this will be Tata’s entry-level electric SUV, which will offer the most value for money. Witnessing the steady EV adoption and Tata playing a huge role in that, it is safe to say that offering an entry-level electric SUV, which could sit below the Punch.ev could be quite an attractive option. Apart from the Nexon, all the electric Tata vehicles are based on the Acti.ev platform, and the Terra will likely be based on the same.
We believe that the Terra will fill the gap between the Punch EV and the Tiago EV. It could carry a price tag of around Rs 9 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Or, Tata could also price the micro SUV cheaper than the Tiago, catering to the high SUV demand while still keeping costs in check. When Tata launched the facelifted Punch.ev, it was offered with a BaaS (Battery As A Service) scheme bringing down the price tag to Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). And if Tata decides to offer the BaaS scheme with the upcoming Terra, we can expect the BaaS version to carry a starting price of around Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, what will it have to offer? Let’s find out!

What Else?

While it would be an entry-level car from Tata, we believe it will get a decent amount of features. We expect it to get features like a 10.25-inch instrument infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, and much more. Being an EV, we expect the Terra to get to battery pack options: a 19.2kWh battery pack (60bhp, 110Nm & 250km range) and 30kWh battery pack (87bhp, 154Nm & 355km). The Terra would be backed by Tata’s safety-focused platform, with the aim of providing maximum value for money. We can expect Tata to launch the Terra by the end of 2027 or early 2028.
So would you wait for the Tata Terra?
