Hyundai Creta Hybrid

The Creta is currently offered with NA petrol, turbo-petrol, diesel, and an EV powertrain, which means it misses out on only one powertrain option: hybrid. And with the next-gen Creta, this won’t be the case. Hyundai is reportedly working on a hybrid technology for its best-selling SUV after looking at the success of the Hyrdyer, Victoris and Grand Vitara.
Its sibling, the Kia Seltos, already gets a hybrid powertrain in the US market. And it doesn’t seem so far-fetched that the Hyundai Creta gets a hybrid as well. Moreover, the changes with the next-gen Creta won’t be limited to just the powertrain. The Creta will use the new K3 platform (also used in the Seltos), enabling improved safety and larger dimensions. So, what else can we expect from the Creta hybrid?

Hyundai Creta Hybrid – Features

The next-gen Creta has been spotted testing internationally, and some key features we can spot include a newer 17-inch PLEOS infotainment screen, a slim 10-inch digital driver’s display, Boss-mode for the co-driver’s seat, and a steering-mounted gear selector. Some of the other features that we can expect are –
- Level-2+ ADAS
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered front seats with ventilation and memory function
- Electric tailgate
- Wireless charging
- 360-degree camera
With the next-gen model, the Creta is set to get more spacious thanks to the new platform. The cabin space will see a huge improvement, and so will the boot space. Furthermore, the Kia Seltos recently claimed the title of the “safest ICE SUV in India” with its 5-star BNCAP rating, and we could see the new Creta perform similarly well.

Hyundai Creta Hybrid – Powertrain

The hybrid will be offered with the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine. Its performance may not be as impressive as that of the diesel or turbo-petrol engines, but you will be compensated with fuel savings. We expect the Creta hybrid to offer around 24-26 kmpl, which is healthy for an SUV like the Creta.
It is important to note that the US-spec Seltos hybrid comes with a 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to hybrid tech. Hyundai may have decided to use the same powertrain as the Indian-spec to avoid the hassle of testing it on a new powertrain.

It would mainly compete against the Grand Vitara, Victoris and Hyryder, along with upcoming SUVs like the Duster hybrid and the Kia Seltos hybrid. There are a few rumours that Tata is working on the Sierra hybrid, but it is still too early to know more details.

Hyundai Creta Hybrid – Expected Pricing & Launch

The outgoing model is priced at Rs 12.82 lakh and Rs 23.87 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The hybrid can cost up to Rs 2 lakh more, depending on the variant you opt for. This may seem like a big amount, but you will make up for this premium within a couple of years.
We expected the Creta hybrid to be launched by 2027. It is expected to be launched alongside the conventional ICE powertrain. The next-gen Creta could be one of Hyundai’s most important products to date.
