Genesis GV70 – Most Affordable Luxury SUV

The Genesis GV70 is a premium mid-size luxury SUV from Hyundai’s global luxury brand, Genesis. It is expected to arrive in the Indian market by early 2027 as a locally assembled model, positioned to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3. Genesis was established in 2015 and has achieved cumulative global sales of 1 million in just 8 years. The biggest news for India? Genesis models will be locally assembled at Hyundai’s facility near Chennai under the Made-in-India initiative, which means pricing could be significantly more competitive than German rivals that arrive as costly full imports.

Design And Dimensions

The 2026 GV70 receives subtle updates, including tweaks to the headlights, grille, and bumper that add visual drama, as well as fresh paint and wheel options. It follows Genesis’s signature Two-Line design philosophy, two sweeping lines that run from the front to the rear of the car, creating a bold, athletic silhouette that seems aggressive.
The GV70 measures approximately 4,715mm in length, 1,910mm in width, and 1,630mm in height, well-sized for Indian roads while providing a strong road presence on highways. The sharply raked roofline gives it a coupe-SUV character that sets it apart from more conventional luxury SUVs like the GLC or X3.

Interior And Features – Most Affordable Luxury SUV

Step inside the GV70, and the first thing that hits you is the 27-inch integrated display spanning the dashboard. Genesis replaces the separate digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen with a single integrated glass display and has also expanded voice-control capabilities to cover climate controls, windows, and more, with over-the-air update capability to keep the system fresh over time.
Other standard features include a Bang & Olufsen audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a redesigned steering wheel, and wireless charging. The cabin is wrapped in premium materials with leatherette upholstery on standard trims and semi-aniline leather on higher variants, the kind of touch that makes you feel like you paid more than you actually did.

On the safety front, Genesis offers enhanced lane-keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, and a smarter parking assist system that can now handle diagonal spaces in addition to parallel and perpendicular parking. Standard safety tech includes blind-spot warning, automatic emergency braking, and impressive crash ratings.

Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
And there is more. An Electrified GV70 variant may also arrive in India down the line. The electric version is expected to feature an upgraded 84 kWh battery pack offering a realistic range of 430-480 km, with a dual-motor AWD setup producing around 435 hp and capable of 0-100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds backed by 800V ultra-fast charging that can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 18 minutes.
