New Generation Kia Sonet Spotted Testing For The First Time

New Gen Kia Sonet spotted – What’s New?

The new-generation Kia Sonet is expected to launch by early 2027, near the festive season. Now, just ahead of its launch, the model has been spotted testing in India wearing heavy camouflage. However, the uncovered-wheel design makes it easy to say the spotted test mule is the Kia Sonet. The model comes with alloys similar to those of the Kia Syros. 

Apart from that, the updated SUV will feature a new horizontal grille. The split headlamp setup on the updated model is expected to be identical to the current version; there might be some changes in the looks. As the test mule was covered in camouflage, no other major changes were spotted. However, we are expecting the new Sonet to feature some styling details.

What To Expect

While the styling and interior details are under wraps, the test mule appears longer than the current model. Recently, the Hyundai Venue also received a generational upgrade, becoming a bit longer than before and shifting to the K1 platform. Similarly, we expect the updated Kia Sonet to be underpinned by the K1 platform, which will help to increase the dimensions.

The K1 platform is eventually safer than the K2 platform, and it can eventually help boost the overall safety of the upcoming Kia Sonet. Apart from that, we expect the model to receive several additional features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, rear window sunshades, a cooled glovebox, and an upgraded sound system. Expected safety features include level 2 ADAS, traction modes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera.

Launch & Pricing Details

Now, with the shift from the K2 platform to the K1 platform, we expect the model to be priced competitively. That said, the new generation Kia Sonet could be priced between Rs 9.5 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Talking about its launch, we expect it to launch by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Once launched, this model will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, and others in India.
