Maruti Swift Hybrid – What’s New?

The Maruti Swift has already been one of the clear choices for the fuel efficient and fun-to-drive cars. Now, Maruti is planning to make this deal even more sweet, by offering a strong hybrid powertrain with the Swift. Unlike the mild hybrid setup, the strong hybrid makes the electric power at lower speeds, such as crawling through city traffic, and switches seamlessly to ICE engine when more power is needed. And the major factor here will be improved fuel-efficiency! With this setup, the Maruti Swift is expected to deliver a mileage of around 30-35kmpl.

The brand has already stated that it will develop a strong hybrid setup based on the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine (Z-series, 3-cylinder). To keep the cost low, this engine will be paired with an AMT gearbox transmission.

What Else?

Apart from the new hybrid system, we don’t expect the Swift to see any changes in terms of styling or design. However, Maruti could offer some features from the Dzire to the Swift, but it will be confirmed after we see the test mules.

Moreover, apart from the hybrid tech, we expect the model to continue with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or a AMT gearbox option. It will be sold alongside the hybrid model.

Regarding the launch, the Maruti Swift hybrid is expected to debut in the second half of 2027. According to reports, the Maruti Fronx will debut with this hybrid tech, and it will later be used on other models. Talking about the pricing, we expect the Maruti Swift hybrid to cost around 75,000 to 1 lakh extra than the regular model. Currently, the Maruti Swift is priced between Rs 6.82 lakh and Rs 10.25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
