Maruti Suzuki Solio-

Solio is an MPV from Suzuki that is already being sold in Japan. And if launched in India, we can expect it to be placed between the Wagon R and Ertiga. Looks-

On the other side, the Solio might remind you of an old Wagon R and its sibling, the Stingray, with some additional chrome. Even though the tall-boy, boxy design could be identical to that of the old Wagon R and Stingray, the Solio has larger dimensions than both. As a Maruti Suzuki family MPV, it is not supposed to be aggressive in its design. With that being said, the Solio features a clean and simple front design with a wide grille and rectangular headlamps. At the rear, along with the upright tailgate, we could expect the integrated taillamps. We can also expect some chrome inserts to the front and rear of the MPV.
Interior & Features-

Inside the cabin, the Solio in Japan comes equipped with a 7- to 9-inch infotainment screen (depending on the variant) and wireless connectivity. For added convenience, Solio comes with electric sliding doors, a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, dashboard-mounted gear selector and much more. In addition to driver assistance, Solio gets a 360-degree camera and ADAS, which are also expected to be introduced with the Indian versions. Even though the Japanese Solio is only offered with the 5-seater configuration, Maruti might consider a 7-seater option in India as well. What else does it have to offer?

Powertrain-

Under the hood, the Japanese-spec Solio gets the 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine (90 bhp & 118 Nm), with a mild-hybrid system. But once launched in India, we can expect it to be offered with the Maruti Suzuki tried-and-tested 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine (80.5 bhp & 111.7 Nm). With the given engine, Solio could be offered with two gearbox options: a 5-speed manual and an AMT. Along with this, it is likely to get a CNG powertrain option. Not just CNG; we can also expect strong hybrid technology to come along.
Rivals-
If launched in India, the direct rival to the Solio will be the sub-4-meter MPVs or 7-seaters, including the Renault Triber and Nissan Gravite. Also, it will be interesting to see how the Solio performs against other Maruti models, such as the Wagon R and Ertiga, as it is positioned between them in the lineup.
Expected Launch Date & Pricing-
The launch of the Solio in India is still under wraps; Maruti is currently more focused on facelifts for existing models. Following the facelift launched we could expect the new MPV to be launched. That said, we can expect Solio to launch in India by mid-2027 or early 2028. Considering that Maruti will continue to offer this new MPV as the affordable MPV below the Ertiga, we can expect it to be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
