Mahindra XUV3XO Hybrid

With Kia announcing it will launch the Sonet hybrid, Mahindra doesn’t want to fall behind. Industry sources suggest that Mahindra is working on the XUV3XO hybrid, as well as the XUV7XO and XEV9E hybrids. With this new powertrain, the 3XO would become of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in India. This could give it a huge boost in the fuel-efficiency-loving market.
Mahindra is currently developing a hybrid powertrain for its 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol engines. As expected, the 1.5-litre would be used in the larger 7XO and 9E, and the 1.2-litre hybrid would be adopted for the 3XO. Reports suggest Mahindra is working on a range-extender hybrid, in which the engine would act purely as a generator for the electric motor, but it is unlikely that such tech will be offered on smaller SUVs like the 3XO.
