Upcoming Rs 15 Lakh Cars – Tata Nexon

The Nexon is long overdue for a generation change. While it may have received plenty of facelifts over the years, it still has the Indica-derived X1 platform. But with the next-gen Nexon, this could change as speculation suggests that it will use Sierra’s ARGOS platform. This means that the next-gen Nexon would support hybrid, petrol, diesel and CNG powertrains.

The outgoing Nexon is already a feature-rich car, and the next one will continue that trend. We expect features like a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, an improved ADAS suite, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a powered driver’s seat, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats.

As for the powertrain, it could use the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. It will also be available with the dual-cylinder CNG setup. And with the market slowly shifting towards HEVs, Tata could soon introduce it with the Nexon.

The outgoing Nexon costs between Rs 8.60 and Rs 16.98 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), and this pricing could see a Rs 25,000 hike if the Nexon gets a newer platform. But nonetheless, you would be able to get some value-for-money variants under Rs 15 lakh.

Hyundai Bayon

The Bayon is a crossover SUV that will take on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx head-on. It is expected to fall in the Rs 8 lakh-Rs 16 lakh price bracket and would sit below the Venue in the Hyundai SUV lineup.

We expect the Bayon to be packed with features such as a dual-screen setup, an ADAS suite, a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, wireless charging, powered driver seats, and a 360-degree camera.

Importantly, Hyundai is set to introduce an all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with the Bayon. However, we could see its lower variants get the 1.2-litre NA petrol as standard. Moreover, it could also be offered with a dual-cylinder CNG powertrain.

Currently, the Baleno costs between s 7.03 lakh and Rs 10.57 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The top variants that would get the additional features could see a Rs 15,000 hike, while the lower variants will be priced similarly to keep pricing aggressive.
