Tata Safari.ev – What To Expect?

The Safari is one of Tata’s most iconic models. The Safari was one of the pioneers of the Indian SUV segment, and Tata brought it back in a fresh avatar in 2024. It ditched the old rugged design language and opted for a modern approach, like the Harrier. The Safari.ev would carry the same approach. It is expected to look identical to the ICE version, but some aesthetic features, such as aero alloys and a closed-off grille, would set it apart.

Features

The feature list is expected to be identical to the Harrier.ev. It could get features like –

  • 14.5-inch infotainment screen
  • Level-2+ ADAS
  • 10.25-inch digital infotainment
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Electric tailgate
  • Powered front seats
  • Front and rear wireless charging
  • Cooled glovebox
  • Rear seat ventilation
  • 540-degree camera
  • 7-airbags

You would have to make some sacrifices with the EV. The usable boot space is expected to be reduced, and the second-row experience is expected to worsen due to the raised floor.

Tata Safari EV – Powertrain

It will share the battery options with the Harrier.ev. The Harrier is offered with 65kWh and 75kWh packs, and the same is expected for the Safari.ev. The claimed range figures for these battery packs would be lower than those of the Harrier.ev due to the increased weight. And like the Harrier.ev, it will also be offered with the dual-motor AWD drivetrain. Mahindra introduced a newer 70kWh pack with the XEV9S to make the long-range versions more accessible. Tata could copy this move and offer an all-new battery pack to sit below the 75kWh one.

Its main competition is the Mahindra XEV9S, but it would also compete against other EVs like the Vinfast VF MPV7, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XEV9E, and the Tata Harrier.ev.

Tata Safari EV – Expected Pricing & Launch

The Safari EV could be priced between Rs 23 lakh and Rs 32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Such pricing would mean that its base trims would be significantly more expensive than the 9S, while the top variants would be priced similarly.

Rumours suggested that the Safari.ev would launch by Diwali this year. But with the launch of the Sierra.ev being postponed, the Safari.ev launch could also get delayed. We expect it to be launched by the end of this year or in the early months of 2027.
