Most Luxurious Hyundai Ever!

Genesis is Hyundai’s sibling company, like Lexus is to Toyota or Alpina is to BMW. Hyundai is expected to unveil the Genesis brand in India with exclusive showrooms planned. And the G80 is one of the first models to come from this brand. It is already on sale in international markets, and here is what we can expect from the Indian spec.

It is a 5m-long sedan which will take on the Mercedes E-class, BMW 5-series and Audi A6. And as far as looks are concerned, it puts up quite a fight. It looks premium, and the overall design language oozes elegance. The 20-inch alloys, the unique front grille and the sloping roofline give it solid road presence despite it being a sedan. For people who aren’t aware of this car, it would be impossible to recognise it as a Hyundai under the hood.

Powertrain

Internationally, it is offered with 2 options: a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol (300bhp & 422Nm) and a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol (375bhp & 530Nm). Both powertrains are offered with an 8-speed AT and an AWD drivetrain as standard. Surprisingly, it doesn’t get a hybrid option. While the global-spec model does not get a hybrid, we can expect the Indian-spec to get it. The 2.5-litre engine could be offered with a hybrid in India. This powertrain is already offered on the global-spec Palisade, and it won’t require much effort to integrate it with the G80.

Genesis G80 – Expected Launch & Pricing

The Genesis G80 could be launched in India by late 2027. You would have to wait quite some time for the G80, but the signs are promising, and it is definitely a car worth waiting for.

The G80 will be Hyundai’s most expensive model yet. We expect a price tag of around Rs 85 lakh to Rs 95 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This is similar pricing to the E-class, A6 and 5-series. But that is a fair price, given that the G80 is as feature-loaded as its competitors. But would you buy this Hyundai over the popular Germans?
