The Avenger 220 Street, which was axed in 2020, is now making a comeback in the Indian market after a gap of almost 6 years
Bajaj Auto has silently phased out the Avenger 160 Street from the Indian market. The bike has been de-listed from the company’s official website in India. It has been replaced with the Avenger 220 Street which can now be seen on the Bajaj website. The discontinuation of the Avenger 160 Street signals the end of road for the Avenger’s highly popular 160 platform. Bajaj Avenger 220 Street will join the 220 Cruise which is already on sale in the domestic market in India at a price point of Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bajaj Avenger 220 Street is making a comeback in the Indian market after a gap of more than 6 years as it was axed in 2020. Based on the same platform as the 220 Cruise, it is likely to go on sale in the coming days with a formal price announcement. The Avenger 220 Street will share the 220cc single-cyliner oil-cooled engine with the 220 Cruise with identical power and torque figures of 18.8 bhp at 8500 rpm and 17.5 Nm at 7000 rpm, respectively.
The 220cc engine will be offered with a 5-speed gearbox. The Avenger 160, which has been discontinued, used to come with a 160.4cc single-cylinder engine which produced top power of 14.8 bhp and highest torque of 13.7 Nm. The images on the Bajaj website indicate that the Avenger 220 Street is visually similar to the model which was discontinued in 2020.

The 2026 Bajaj Avenger 220 Street is expected to go on sale in two colour schemes namely Cocktail Wine Red and Ebony Black. It will come with blacked-out components and alloy wheels. The motorcycle will be rolled out with a low slung wider seat for a relaxed riding stance. Flaunting a cruiser-inspired sportster design, it will also feature street-control handlebars and cushioned backrest.
The suspension duties will be performed by telescopic front forks and dual-shock rear absorbers with 5-step adjustability. The stopping power will be supplied by 280 mm front disc brake and 130 mm rear drum unit. The braking system will be assisted by a single-channel ABS. The Avenger 220 Street will ride on 90/90-17 front and 130/90-15 rear tubeless tyres.

The Avenger 220 Street will have a ground clearance of 169 mm. Tipping the weighing scale at 160 kg, it will have a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres. The saddle height is pegged at 737 mm. Bajaj Avenger 220 Street will be positioned below the 220 Cruise in Bajaj’s 220 portfolio and hence, it is likely to have a lesser price of around Rs 1.15-1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
