Maruti Suzuki Alto Facelift- What To Expect? » MotorOctane

India’s huge population has become a problem, not just because of limited resources. But also because of the population’s concentration in major cities. This concentrated population poses serious problems, such as severe traffic jams. In addition, in India’s SUV-dominated market, most people want an SUV as their primary vehicle. But this was not the case back then; the entry-level hatchback segment was one of the biggest in India. And at the centre of this segment was the Maruti Suzuki Alto. In the coming years, Maruti could offer an Alto facelift. Here is what you can expect from it-

Maruti Suzuki Alto Facelift-

Alto, one of the most affordable cars in the country, has remained unchanged since its launch. However, the Alto isn’t just an Alto in modern times. Altos has added various models to its lineup over the years, including the Alto K10 series and the Alto 800. The Alto that’s currently being sold in India is the third generation of the Alto K10. Even with its compact size, the Alto is surprisingly spacious inside and offers decent features; it could get even better with the upcoming facelift. What all is to be changed?

Looks-

We expect the practical silhouette of an entry-level hatchback to remain the same, with some cosmetic updates. At the front, the Alto facelift could feature a refreshed grille that looks more aerodynamic, like other modern-day Marutis. The bumper on both ends might get tweaked, too. At the rear, the rounded tail lamp could also be revised to give the overall facelift a fresh look. Sadly, the current Alto does not come with alloy wheels, and, keeping the affordability factor in mind, the upcoming facelift could also follow suit. What else?

Interiors & Features-

The major changes can be seen inside the cabin. To start it off, the all-black interiors could get some colours, featuring a dual-tone cabin. The 7-inch infotainment system is expected to get larger, and the semi-digital instrument cluster may also be updated. The feature list might now include a C-type charging port and additional parking sensors.

Powertrain-

Alongside its affordable initial price, the Alto’s ownership costs are low, making it popular among Indian families. And supporting that is the fuel-efficient 1.0-litre petrol engine. This engine produces 66.6bhp and 89Nm torque in its petrol variants, whereas it produces 56bhp and 82Nm torque for the CNG variants. Paired with the 5-speed manual and AMT, this engine claims up to 24 km/l (for Petrol) and 33km/kg (for CNG). Even though we expect this engine to stay along with the Alto facelift as well, but with some changes to its tune.

Rivals-

The entry-level hatchback segment in India is no longer the automaker’s primary focus. Still, there are brands like Maruti Suzuki and Tata working in this segment. With that being said, the direct rival to the Alto Facelift would be the Tata Tiago facelift and Renault Kwid. Not just this; Maruti’s own products, like the S-Presso, will also compete with the Altos facelift in sales.

Expected Launch & Pricing-

As of now, there is no official update on the launch of the Alto facelift. But considering that Maruti updates its models every 4-5 years, we can expect the Alto facelift to be introduced by early 2027. Regarding pricing, the current-generation Alto is priced between Rs 4.45 lakh and Rs 6.46 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the updates, the Alto facelift could be priced with a price hike of about Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000. What do you think about this new updated Alto?
