Nissan Patrol Launch Confirmed?

By now, everyone must have seen those videos of the tuned Nissan Patrol that produces 4-digit horsepower figures. It has managed to leave hypercars like the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 918 in its dust. And now this icon is set to arrive in India. Unfortunately, it won’t be the fully-tuned V12 but will be sold in a sober production-spec disguise.

Nissan recently launched the Gravite and is planning to launch the Tekton as well. But Nissan would need something spicier to liven things up. And Nissan’s Chief Performance Engineer, Guillaume Cartier, thinks that the Patrol is the solution. Cartier has revealed that Nissan is looking to bring the Patrol as a CBU. Nissan realises that the X-Trail couldn’t quite capitalise on the CBU experiment and hopes that things work out better with the Patrol.

Powertrain

The Middle Eastern spec Patrol is offered with two engine options –

  • 3.8-litre V6 petrol (316bhp & 386Nm)
  • 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol (425bhp & 700Nm)

Gearbox options are limited as both engines are paired with a 9-speed AT as standard, and obviously, it also gets a 4WD drivetrain. The Indian-spec model is expected to get the 3.8-litre engine, but if we do get the twin-turbo powertrain, it will be a pleasant surprise. However, it will leave many people disappointed that it does not get a diesel alternative.

  • 14.3-inch infotainment screen
  • 14.3-inch digital driver’s display
  • Two 12.8-inch rear entertainment screens

Expected Pricing & Launch

Nissan struggled big time with the X-trail pricing and will try to do better with the Patrol. Nonetheless, it won’t be cheap and could cost around Rs 2.5 crore – Rs 3 crore (on-road, Mumbai). It may not sell in figures like that of the Gravite, but will help boost Nissan’s portfolio in India.

We expect it to be launched by early to mid-2027. It will directly compete against the Toyota LC300 and is an alternative worth considering. Power, reliability, luxury and road presence don’t get better than the Nissan Patrol.
