The Grand Vitara was Maruti’s answer to the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. Both Korean manufacturers had gained significant market share in the mid-sized segment, and Suzuki needed to brainstorm a solution to keep the Grand Vitara competitive. This solution was the introduction of Toyota’s hybrid system. The strong-hybrid Grand Vitara was a success, achieving incredible fuel economy. Recently, the Grand Vitara outsold the Seltos by more than 3,000 units (October 2025 sales figures).
It was launched in September 2022 and hasn’t gotten any major facelifts since then. Maruti will be looking to update the Grand Vitara, especially with a Kia Seltos facelift around the corner. Here is all the information you need about the upcoming Grand Vitara facelift.
Key Details

The Grand Vitara has a sophisticated look and has aged well. It has no polarising features, making it very easy on the eyes. Maruti will look to keep it that way with the facelift. The changes will be centred towards the feature list.
Unlike the exterior, the interior has begun to show its age. It uses the same dreary cockpit as most Maruti vehicles. It gets a 7″ infotainment screen on top variants, and the lower variants get a tiny 4.62″ screen. This is particularly shocking considering the rivals have already moved on to a joint driver’s display and infotainment screen. You would be surprised again when you realise you don’t get the Grand Vitara with ADAS. Cars in lower segments get this feature. Maruti Suzuki will look to address this omission and liven up the cabin, as otherwise it will have an extensive feature list.
The overall look of the cabin could match that of the new Victoris. Maruti has packed the Victoris with features like ADAS, and the Grand Vitara facelift will likely get an identical feature list.
There has yet to be an official confirmation of the Grand Vitara’s NCAP results; it is expected to score in the 4- to 5-star range. Maruti offering 6 airbags as standard across all variants will certainly help these ratings.
Powertrain

The powertrain has been a significant factor in the Grand Vitara’s success. You can choose from either a 1.5L 4-cylinder smart-hybrid, 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol-CNG or a 1.5L 3-cylinder strong-hybrid. Furthermore, there are no diesel engines as options. The failure of Maruti’s 1.5L E15A diesel could be the reason for this exclusion.
The hybrid options will be carried over with the facelift, and the main change will be made to the CNG variants. The latest Maruti Victoris showcased an innovative underbody CNG configuration that maximises boot space. This same setup is also expected with all upcoming Maruti vehicles, including the Grand Vitara.
The gearbox options are a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and an e-CVT. The facelift will offer identical gearbox options. The Grand Vitara also offers an AWD powertrain, with an automatic as standard. The sales for the AWD variant haven’t been satisfactory, but Maruti will most likely offer it in the facelift as well.
Rivals
Its rivals in the mid-sized SUV include the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV700 and the Toyota Hyrder. The Grand Vitara gets a tax benefit over these rivals because it is a hybrid. Its competitors include vehicles that exceed the sub-4m category and are taxed at 50%. The mild-hybrid and CNG variants receive a 5% tax deduction, while the strong-hybrid gets a 7-8% tax reduction, helping keep the price low.
If Maruti plays their cards right, the upcoming facelift could be a game-changer. All it needs is a few features, a revamped cabin, and minor design tweaks to come close to the Hyundai Creta in sales.

Expected Pricing and Launch

The outgoing model range starts at 12.7 lakhs, and the top model costs more than 23 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). Due to its tax advantage, it has a slight price advantage over its rivals. Pricing will remain attractive with the upcoming model.
While there is no official confirmation on its reveal date, you can expect the Grand Vitara facelift by mid to late 2026. The timelines for the Toyota Hyrdyer facelift and the Grand Vitara facelift are expected to be identical.
