It is a spacious SUV with humongous dimensions and is based on a ladder-on-frame platform. From its base model, the SUV is offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that delivers 197bhp & 370Nm. Pay slightly more and you can get a 2.2-litre diesel engine (130bhp & 300Nm).

Next, we have a 7-seater from the French Automaker – the Citroen Aircross X! One of the most practical 7-seater SUVs is currently priced between Rs 9.75 lakh & Rs 16.24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). At this price point, the Aircross X offers an excellent package, thanks to the recent update! The ride quality and seat comfort are spot on. What adds to the practicality is that you can remove the last row of seats completely & utilize the boot space. If your budget is tight but you need a car to move 7 people comfortably, the Kia Carens Clavis could be your choice. The Carens Clavis is currently priced between Rs 13.14 lakh & Rs 24.61 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), and is offered with both – petrol & diesel engines. Talking of which, it gets a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (113bhp & 144Nm) & a 1.5-litre diesel engine (114bhp & 250Nm). There is also a more powerful TGDi engine for higher variants. Additionally, the pre-facelift model – Kia Carens is also on sale, priced from Rs 13.04 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). However, the Clavis has a more refreshing exterior & interior design.

The Best-Seller – Affordable 7-Seaters In India


Priced between Rs 10.34 lakh & Rs 15.36 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), the Ertiga is an easy recommendation for the masses! The Ertiga was launched in 2012 and has been a top pick for many! Even today, it is India’s best-selling 7-seaters. Being a Maruti product, the Ertiga is reliable and runs for lakhs & lakhs of kilometres! The comfortable & spacious Maruti is offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (102bhp & 137Nm) – mated with manual & automatic gearbox options. Additionally, you can opt for CNG with the Ertiga. Also, if you want a Toyota badge on the Ertiga, you have the Rumion, priced from Rs 12.76 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Cops Love This!


The other best-selling 7-seater, available at an affordable price, is the Mahindra Bolero Neo. Priced between Rs 10.16 lakh & Rs 12.71 lakh, the Bolero Neo recently received a facelift. The facelift has added some new features, including a new colour theme on the inside & an updated suspension setup. However, it is important to know that the Bolero Neo comes with jump seats in the last row, which are strictly for short passengers. The SUV is offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100bhp & 260Nm), paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. Having said that, it is one of the best 7-seaters available that offers excellent road quality & road presence.

Old-School Vibes – Affordable 7-Seaters In India


What also has an excellent road presence is the Mahindra Bolero! The old-school classic Bolero is currently priced between Rs 9.54 lakh & Rs 11.56 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Similar to the Neo, the regular Bolero also received a facelift, which brought a new Black paint shade. That said, it might not be the best of the lot for your daily city runs, but it can be a great option purely as a people mover. The final car on the list and probably India’s cheapest 7-seater is the Renault Triber! A sub-4 metre 7-seater with surprisingly decent space for all 7 passengers. Currently, the Triber is priced between Rs 6.76 lakh & Rs 10.02 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It is a great option for a family of five with extra space for kids. In fact, even adults can be accommodated for shorter journeys. And just like the Aircross, the last row seats can be removed to use the space for extra luggage. The Triber comes with a 1.0-litre NA petrol engine (71bhp & 96Nm) with manual & AMT gearbox options, along with an option for CNG!
