Maruti Fronx Flex Fuel

Maruti has showcased multiple SUVs at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. Among all, it is the Fronx flex fuel model that has caught our attention. Talking of which, the model showcased is equipped with a flex-fuel engine that can run on E85. Which means you can fill petrol – blended with 85% ethanol. Currently in India, we have E20 petrol with a 20% ethanol blend. On the other hand, the Indian government is planning to introduce E30 petrol in the next 5 years. So, with E85 compatibility, the Fronx Flex Fuel is a future-proof SUV. And why Nitin Gadkari’s favourite SUV? Well, it was our Minister Of Road Transport & Highways, who initiated the ethanol-blended petrol in India! And yes, Maruti is expected to launch the SUV in India – sometime in 2026!

No Other Changes

Currently, the power figures of the flex fuel Fronx are still unknown. However, we expect it to have the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine from the current model. That said, in future, the Fronx will be available with a hybrid powertrain. Apart from the flex fuel engine, the Fronx remains unchanged as a product. It continues to get the same design with LED DRLs at the top & headlamps positioned at the bottom. The side profile also remains the same with a sloping roofline effect. Similarly, it gets the same rear design with connected LED taillamps. However, it does boast multiple Flex Fuel badging.
