At the Kia investor meet, the brand focused on expanding its lineup in India to 10 models by 2030, including 8 electrified vehicles (hybrids). This plan suggests Kia is looking to expand the lineup mainly with hybrids and EVs, rather than new ICE cars. Here’s everything we expect from the upcoming Kia cars –

Upcoming Kia Cars– Kia Syros EV

Kia Syros EV is expected to launch in India this year. Industry rumours suggest that this model could arrive by August, though the brand has yet to confirm it. We expect the Syros EV to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Once launched, it will rival the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and others.
The EV Syros is expected to be styled similarly to its ICE version, but with some EV-specific changes, such as a closed grille. Just like the ICE model, the electric SUV will be based on the K1 platform. Internationally, the Inster EV is based on the K1 platform and features two battery packs of 42kWh and 49kWh; the same is expected for the Kia Sorento EV. The feature list is also expected to be identical; however, the EV model includes V2V and V2L capabilities.

Kia Sorento Hybrid

The upcoming Kia Sorento had been spotted testing in India for some time. The Sorento is a 7-seater SUV that will likely be positioned against the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, etc in India. The brand has confirmed that the model will be launching in a hybrid version. In international markets, the Sorento is offered with a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) and a conventional hybrid. For India, we expect the conventional hybrid model. It is expected to be launched by 2027, at an expected price ranging between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
That said, we expect the model to be powered by a 1.6-litre hybrid engine paired with an electric motor. Alongside the hybrid powertrain, we expect the model to be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 2.5-litre petrol engine.
The SUV is loaded with quite a few features if you are looking for them. The feature list includes a 24-inch dual-screen setup, a 14-way power driver’s seat, 10-way power passenger seats, a heads-up display, a wireless charging port, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and more. Globally, the Sorento is offered in 6- and 7-seat configurations; however, in India, we expect only the 7-seat model to arrive.

Kia Carnival Hybrid

Kia has also confirmed the Carnival hybrid for India. The hybrid version of the model will come powered with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid engine. It is expected to be the same hybrid unit powering the Sorento hybrid. Apart from the hybrid engine, we don’t expect the MPV to offer anything extra in terms of features or get any different styling.
The Carnival hybrid is expected to be priced around Rs 77 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). However, its launch might happen by late 2027 or early 2028.
