New-gen Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson never really caught on with the Indian public due to its premium price tag. It is quite a popular model abroad, and its poor sales were quite surprising. But now, Hyundai will try again by launching the new-gen model.

The Tucson facelift was spotted in Korea not that long ago, and it looks much different from its predecessor. The dimensions seemed to have increased, giving it a stronger road presence. Everyone knows that Indians love an SUV with road presence,  and this could make the Tucson a more attractive buy.

From the test mule, we can spot that the Tucson gets a new 17-inch PLEOS infotainment screen and a slim 9.9-inch digital driver’s display. Moreover, we could also spot a steering-column-mounted gear selector and powered boss-mode for the co-driver’s seat. Some of the other expected features include Level-2+ ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and an electric tailgate.

New-Gen Hyundai Tucson – Powertrain

We expect the Tucson to get a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine. Rumours also suggest that we could see it being offered with a 2.0-litre diesel. Its predecessor also offered an AWD drivetrain, and we expect the same with the next-gen model. Hyundai and Kia have both hinted at bringing hybrid technology to India, and the Tucson is likely one of the first models to benefit from it.

Rivals

It would compete against other SUVs such as the Jeep Compass, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq Lounge, Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, and the upcoming Kia Sorento. The market is still untapped, and Hyundai could capture it with the Tucson.

New-Gen Hyundai Tucson – Expected Pricing & Launch

We expect the Tucson to be priced around Rs 30 lakh and Rs 40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Hyundai hasn’t revealed many details about the Tucson yet, but we could see it on Indian roads by mid-2027. This won’t be the only SUV Hyundai launches within the next 2 years. Other upcoming models include the Palisade and the next-gen Creta.
