Toyota Land Cruiser FJ – Estimated Pricing and Launch

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be the most affordable Land Cruiser model sold in India. The model is anticipated to be developed in the brand’s newly acquired Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra. Recently, news has surfaced about when production will start at the new plant, which could eventually mark the start of production of the new Land Cruiser FJ.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ – Expected Launch Timeline

Toyota has said that it will commence production in the new plant by 2028. This means that the Land Cruiser FJ’s production will start at the same time. That said, we could see the final model somewhere around the end of 2028 or by 2029. It is still some time away. Regarding pricing, the SUV could be priced around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 45 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). At that price, it will be the cheapest Land Cruiser FJ in India.

What Else?

The Land Cruiser FJ is part of the Land Cruiser family, but unlike the over-5 m stretched models, it will be a bit shorter. It is 4575m long, which is nearly the size of a Tata Safari. The Toyota SUV has a rugged look, giving it a strong road presence. That said, even being a small car, the Land Cruiser FJ is a rugged-looking, muscular SUV. 

The interiors are very old-school types; there are several physical buttons and knobs, unlike the touch-sensitive controls. Apart from that, the SUV is expected to get features such as a 12.5-inch touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s display, and more.

Regarding the powertrain, the Land Cruiser FJ is expected to be powered by a 2.7-litre petrol engine producing 160bhp and 246Nm, paired with a 6-speed ECT gearbox. For the India-spec model, the SUV could come with a manual gearbox in the base variant. It also gets an AWD drivetrain.
