Kia Seltos Hybrid Spotted Testing In India

Kia has already revealed that the Seltos will get a hybrid powertrain soon. It is expected to launch after the Hyundai Creta hybrid model. We expect the hybrid version of the Seltos to launch by mid-2027. Now, ahead of its official launch, the hybrid model was spotted testing in India. Here’s what all we can expect –

Kia Seltos Hybrid Spotted 

Kia has been spotted testing its Creta rival, with a new hybrid powertrain. The model received a generational update last year, and it has helped it achieve good sales. Now, the new hybrid version is expected to be just an additional powertrain mounted on the same chassis. While the spotted test mule features heavy camouflage, the tail lamp unit is the same as that of the current model. This suggests that the hybrid model might not see any major styling changes. 

Along with that, the hybrid version of the Seltos will carry over the same feature list as the current model. We will cover the feature list later; let’s look at the new hybrid engine.

In the international market, the Seltos is expected to get a 1.6-litre petrol engine with hybrid tech. However, in India, we expect the model to feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine with hybrid tech. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces (155bhp & 265Nm); after it gets paired with an electric motor, the performance figures will see a rise. Alongside this new hybrid powertrain, the model is expected to feature the 1.5-litre turbo petrol (158bhp & 253Nm), 1.5-litre NA petrol (113bhp & 144Nm), and 1.5-litre diesel (114bhp & 250Nm). 

The feature list for the model will include the same dual 12.3-inch screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation, a panoramic sunroof, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a ventilated seat, dual-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and more.

Estimated Launch & Pricing 

Regarding its launch, we expect Kia to introduce the hybrid version of the Seltos by mid 2027. The model currently carries a price tag ranging from Rs 13 lakh to Rs 24.49 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Now, with the hybrid powertrain, we expect the price to be hiked by around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh, depending on the variants.
