Honda WRV Launching on 22 May

Honda will be unveiling two models – the ZRV and City facelift on the 22nd of May. While everyone had been expecting the City facelift, the ZRV comes as a bit of a surprise. It is a 4.56 m-long 5-seater SUV that will be imported via the CBU route.

The ZRV is currently sold globally, which helps us get an idea of how the Indian-spec model would look. Its design language is quite understated and lacks the ruggedness of most SUVs in the market. Its clean look will be appreciated by many Indians. But how is the ZRV on the inside?

Honda ZRV – Features

As for features, it is expected to get –

  • Level-2 ADAS
  • 360-degree camera
  • Ventilated and powered front seats
  • Wireless charging
  • 9-inch infotainment screen
  • 10.2-inch digital driver’s display
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Powered tailgate

Due to its 2.6m-long wheelbase, the ZRV is quite roomy inside. And when you factor in the solid build quality and premium materials, the cabin is a great place to be. But what’s more surprising is its 380-litre boot. This boot is much smaller than the boots of SUVs like the Creta, Seltos, Sierra, and others that sit multiple segments below it. In fact, its boot space is even smaller than that of compact SUVs like the Nexon, Kylaq and the Sonet. You make big sacrifices for its hybrid powertrain.

Honda ZRV – Powertrain

The ZRV is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain in global markets. The same configuration is expected with the Indian model. The performance figures are modest at 182 bhp & 315Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to all 4 wheels via the e-CVT gearbox. The advantages of the ZRV are only evident when you look at its 21 kmpl mileage (claimed).

Honda ZRV – Pricing & Rivals

Since it is an import, it won’t be cheap. We expect a price tag of around Rs 45-55 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This means it would compete against the likes of the Kodiaq, Tayron R-line, Meridian and the fabled Fortuner. This is tough competition, and we can only wait until the 22nd to know whether it fares well in the unforgiving Indian SUV market.
