The most obvious change for the new-gen Seltos will be the design. Be it the exterior or the interior, the new-gen Seltos will be all new! Some spy shots have already revealed a new headlamp setup inspired by larger Kia SUVs like the Sorento. Other changes might include new front grille & bumpers. Also, we could see a raised bonnet for improved road presence. The side profile will also see some changes. Two of the most expected are new alloy wheels and a revised silhouette with a more boxy design. The rear will see multiple changes, like new connected LED taillamps & rear bumpers. Overall, the Seltos will get a fresh appeal.

Kia knows that only redesigning the Seltos inside-out will not appeal to the masses. For which, the feature list is expected to see a major upgrade. Talking of which, multiple features are expected to be shared with the Kia Syros. The list includes – a 12.3-inch touchscreen system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon Sound System, rear ventilated seats, powered tailgate, updated head-up display and a lot more! Additionally, a few spy shots revealed a total of 12 parking sensors (front & rear) – suggesting an auto park feature.

The highlight of the new-gen Seltos has been its size. Although not confirmed, the spy shot suggests the SUV has gained size, particularly length-wise. But why should this be a talking point? Well, along with the length, we expect the new-gen Seltos to have a larger wheelbase. And with a larger wheelbase, the new-gen Seltos will have improved legroom on the inside.

Currently, the Kia Seltos is offered with three engine options – a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, a 1.5-litre TGDi engine & a 1.5-litre diesel engine. For the new-gen, Kia will either continue with all three engine options or discontinue the diesel unit! Why diesel? Well, rumours suggest that Kia will likely introduce a new strong hybrid engine with the upcoming Seltos. The hybrid powertrain will have better fuel efficiency than the diesel – at a similar price point. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre NA petrol will continue to be offered in lower price segments, while the TGDi will remain a niche option for enthusiasts. Having said that, the chances of introducing a hybrid for India are slim as some rumours also suggest Kia could introduce a new 7-speed automatic gearbox for its diesel engine.

Overall, the new-gen Seltos will bring some major improvements – right from the design to introducing a new engine. If Kia makes these changes for the new model, we can expect a major price hike. Currently, the Seltos is priced between Rs 12.82 lakh & Rs 23.76 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). However, for the new-gen, we can expect a price hike of Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh, depending on the variants.
