Ford Comeback Confirmed! – What’s Cooking?

Many auto enthusiasts in the country were waiting for Ford to announce something regarding its comeback. The brand was however tightlipped on announcing anything for typically a year. Now, it has finally given a green signal – confirming to start off with the production at its Chennai plant. The preparations for the same are expected to be started later this year. 

Now, a major setback here is that Ford will be starting off with the production of powertrains for export, and this too is expected to take place by 2029. Therefore, it is very unlikely that Ford might plan to launch new models anytime soon in India. That said, Ford has not shared exact details regarding what kind of powertrains will be manufactured in India. But, the timeline announced shows it featuring ‘next-gen technologies’.

Is Any Product Launch Expected?

As we have said, Ford’s expectation with reviving its plant only remains for exporting the powertrains. And at present, it has not announced anything particularly stating its product launch. So, it is very unlikely that Ford might introduce a new model anytime soon in the country. That said, if you are waiting for Ford Everest, your wait might be stretched longer.

Now, the brand planning to manufacture engines sums up the brand’s priorities leveraging India’s competence. We would still need to look out the brand’s stance of producing cars and selling it in the country going forward.
