Now, the heading might have given you a hint about the SUV we are talking about. Yes, it is the Tata Harrier. On the 9th of December 2025, the brand is all set to launch the Harrier & the Safari with an all-new 1.5-litre TGDi engine. The most-awaited petrol engine will finally power flagship Tata SUVs. Talking of which, the 1.5-litre mill is capable of producing 168bhp & 280Nm of torque. However, it will be interesting to see if the brand bumps its power for big & heavy machines. But how will the introduction of a new engine impact the sales of Creta?

Well, there are a couple of factors that will likely make buyers choose the Harrier over the Creta. Firstly, the price! Currently, the Harrier diesel is priced between Rs 16.72 lakh & Rs 30.13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). At the same time, the brand had recently launched new Adventure X & Adventure X Plus variants with more features, priced between Rs 21.36 lakh & Rs 23.62 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With a petrol engine, the price of Harrier, especially the Adventure X & the X Plus, are expected to see a price cut of nearly Rs 2 lakh!

But why are we focusing so much on these two variants, particularly? Well, both these variants at the mentioned price point are offering features like a 10.25-inch Touchscreen System, a 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, Panoramic Sunroof, Automatic AC, Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, Rain Sensing Wipers and more. On the other hand, the X Plus comes with additional features like Level 2 ADAS & Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold. Now, when compared with equivalent variants of the Creta diesel at a similar price point, the Harrier has more features to offer. However, with the new petrol engine, the Harrier will offer all these features under Rs 20 lakh – making it a value for money product against the Creta!

Also, it is not just the price or the features that will attract buyers. The fact that the Harrier is a much bigger SUV compared to the Creta is also something that will make it a steal deal! It is spacious & has unmatched road presence. Additionally, the Harrier is based on the OMEGA Architecture – derivative of the Land Rover D8 platform. It not only offers excellent ride quality over bad roads or stability at high speeds, but it also has proven safety. Compared to the Creta’s 3-star safety ratings on its older model, the Harrier has 5 stars in front of its name!
