Recently, Honda confirmed that it will launch 10 new cars in India. Of which, 7 will be new SUVs. But which among these will be arriving next year? Let’s have a look at the upcoming Honda SUV.

Upcoming Honda SUV

Currently, Honda has 3 cars in its portfolio – the Amaze, the City & the Elevate. Two of these are sedans – a segment already ignored in India. At the same time, the Elevate is an SUV, rivalling the Creta segment. However, Honda is yet to enter one of the hottest SUV segments. It is the sub-4 metre SUV segment where the Nexon is currently the leader. To take on Nexon, Honda is set to launch an all-new sub-4-metre SUV in 2026.

With the new compact SUV, Honda will aim to boost its overall sales in India. Also, Honda will try to keep the pricing aggressive – undercutting many other SUVs! Talking of which, Honda may launch its most affordable SUV between Rs 8 lakh & Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Once launched, it will be a great option for those who love Honda or Japanese products! The upcoming SUV will likely be based on the Amaze & is expected to be a feature-loaded product. So what exactly will it offer?

New Honda SUV

As the SUV is expected to be based on the Amaze platform, it will likely get similar features. These include an ADAS suite, an 8-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control and a few more. 

However, as the upcoming SUV will be going up against the best-selling SUV in India, the Nexon, Honda may go out of its way to offer more features. We can expect to see additional features like a larger touchscreen, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, a sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and much more. These features will allow the sub-4-metre Honda SUV to rival the Nexon on a level playing field. Additionally, the new SUV is expected to boast a boxy shape for better cabin space.

Just like the Amaze, we can expect to see the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine in the new SUV. However, Honda may tune the engine to offer better performance. It will likely get a CNG option, which might be a retrofit kit like the one in the Amaze. Honda will likely offer the same transmission options – a 5-speed MT or a CVT.
