Upcoming Honda Cars – Alpha 0 EV

The Alpha 0 EV will be Honda’s first EV in India. And its testing has already begun in India. The 0 Alpha is a boxy SUV that sports a futuristic design language. So far, we have only seen its concept models, but we expect the production-spec to differ significantly.

Details about the battery pack and its features remain a mystery, but to compete with the likes of Mahindra and Tata, Honda would need to offer the best possible package to stand a chance. It is expected to be launched by 2027, within the Rs 20-30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) price bracket.

The City has been Honda’s most successful model in India. But its popularity has dried up in recent years. So to freshen things up, Honda is launching the City facelift on the 22nd of May. And the facelift has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. Honda has gone in a sportier direction with the facelift, featuring slim headlights and blacked-out elements.

On the inside, Level-1 ADAS is expected to be made standard across all variants. Furthermore, a 360-degree camera and a larger infotainment screen could also be introduced with the facelift. Some of the other expected features include rain-sensing wipers, electric sunroof, wireless charger, auto-dimming IRVM, leatherette seats, rear sunshade, automatic headlamps, electrically-adjustable ORVMs with auto-fold feature, etc.

The powertrain options will remain identical with the 1.5-litre NA petrol mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Moreover, this facelift will also be applicable to the HEV version. We expect the conventional ICE model to be priced between Rs 15-20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the HEV could cost around Rs 24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Honda Cars – Elevate Facelift

The Elevate is long overdue for a facelift, and we could finally see it later this year. With the facelift, Honda will liven things up with aesthetic tweaks while keeping the engine bay the same. Currently, the Elevate is offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, and the same powertrain will be carried over with the facelift.

As for features, it is expected to get level-1 ADAS, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and a sunroof.

The outgoing model costs Rs 13.88 lakh and Rs 19.76 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the facelift, we could see a Rs 25,000-30,000 price hike.

Honda Prelude

The Prelude is the most exciting car launch in recent years. This sports car will be brought later this year via the CBU route. What powers this sports car is a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain. With the Prelude, you would get great driving dynamics along with healthy fuel efficiency figures.

The global-spec model comes with features such as an ADAS suite, a 9-inch infotainment screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, a wireless charger, Dual-zone climate control, leatherette seats, and a 10.2-inch driver’s display. We expect a feature list similar to that of the Indian model. Being a CBU, it could be quite pricey, so expect a price tag of around Rs 70-80 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The global-spec model is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain. It also gets an e-CVT gearbox and AWD as standard. This powertrain has a claimed fuel economy of 21 kmpl. The ZR-V will be quite expensive and compete against big names like the Fortuner, Kodiaq, and the Tiguan R-Line. Expect a price of around Rs 50-60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Honda HR-V Hybrid

Honda recently announced it will launch a mid-sized SUV by 2028, and rumours suggest it is the HR-V. It is already on sale in international markets, which lets us get an idea of what the Indian-spec model would look like. It is a 4.4m long 5-seater SUV, which means it will compete with the Creta, Sierra, etc.

Globally, it is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, and the Indian model would get a similar powertrain as standard. Other hybrids like the Victoris, Hyryder, and the Grand Vitara have seen considerable sales, prompting Honda to make a similar move. Its feature list includes an ADAS suite, wireless charging, electric tailgate, 9-inch infotainment screen,  360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof, heated steering wheel, etc. We expect it to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Honda Cars – Compact SUV

Honda has confirmed it will launch a compact SUV by 2028. It will compete against the Nexon, Venue, Kylaq, Sonet and XUV3XO. Not many details have been revealed, but we expect it to get the same 1.2-litre NA engine from the Amaze. Honda could surprise us by offering a turbo-petrol option. Importantly, it could also get a CNG option.

To compete with the segment leaders, Honda would need to load it up with features such as wireless charging, an ADAS suite, an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, and a 360-degree parking camera. We expect Honda to offer these features on this SUV for around Rs 8-15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
