In August 2025, Mahindra showcased a new platform, the NU_IQ, which can support a variety of powertrain options. With the new platform, Mahindra showcased 4 concept cars – Vision S, Vision X, Vision T, and Vision SXT. Out of these concepts, the Vision X has a sleeker and sharper design when compared to the rest. We believe that Mahindra will bring in the XUV 5XO nameplate and introduce it in the highly competitive segment. The NU_IQ platform will support cars between 3990mm and 4320mm, and we believe the XUV 5XO will likely be 4320mm long. Currently, Mahindra has no SUV in the segment that has a very high demand, and this move from Mahindra could make a massive difference. That said, let’s take a look at the expected features of the SUV!

The Vision X concept has a striking design and is sure to stand out in a crowd. The overall body is designed to have aggressive, sharp cuts and creases, and the gloss black cladding adds a sense of robustness. On the inside, the Vision X has a futuristic and premium cabin layout. The dashboard has a unique layout that sets the SUV apart from any existing Mahindra SUVs. It gets a flat-top, flat-bottom steering wheel with Mahindra’s twin peaks logo. The Vision X also features a dual-screen setup and a blue dashboard material, adding to its character. The overall cabin design seems quite minimalistic and plush. The production-spec Mahindra XUV 5XO may not get the same interior layout, but will likely borrow inspiration and a few elements. We expect to see features like powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more.

Mahindra’s new platform is capable of accommodating all kinds of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, electric, and hybrid. The brand could offer the SUV with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol hybrid powertrain and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. We also expect the SUV to be offered with 2 battery pack options as well. Mahindra will likely launch the Mahindra XUV 5XO by 2027, and we expect it to carry a price tag starting from Rs 13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
