When buying an MPV, it is pretty obvious that the Ertiga or the Innova will be at the top of your list. But Hyundai wants to change that, as it is currently working on a 7-seater MPV that could shake up the market. Here are all the details you need to know.

Upcoming Hyundai 7-Seater – Hyundai Stargazer

The Stargazer would be Hyundai’s first-ever MPV in India. It sports the distinct Hyundai design language, with sharp cuts and creases, connected headlights, and connected taillights.
It is a 4.61m long MPV, which means it is much bigger than the Ertiga or the Clavis. Moreover, its wheelbase is also longer than that of the Ertiga. This means you will be greeted with a spacious cabin every time you step inside. The 2nd and 3rd rows of seats are practical and comfortable enough for longer trips. But what if you want something more than just practicality?

- 10.25-inch infotainment screen
- Automatic climate control
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster

Interestingly, the Kia Carens Clavis offers a more extensive feature list. Hyundai will try to offer more features, such as a panoramic sunroof and powered driver seats, on the Stargazer to keep it competitive with the Carens Clavis.

Hyundai Stargazer – Powertrain

The Stargazer’s powertrain is a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that produces 113 bhp & 144 Nm of torque. That is more than enough for an MPV such as this. As for transmission options, it could come with a 6-speed MT as standard, with an iVT alternative. Not the most exciting powertrain options, but good enough to get the job done. It is still too early to predict whether Hyundai will offer it with a CNG option.

Hyundai Stargazer – Expected Pricing and Launch

The Stargazer will be a more premium offering than the Ertiga, meaning it will directly compete with the XL6 and the Carens Clavis. It is expected to be priced between Rs 15 to Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Furthermore, the launch seems quite distant for now, as speculation suggests a potential 2029 launch. You would have to wait a long time if you are planning to buy an MPV. Nonetheless, the Stargazer promises good things from Hyundai and is definitely an option to consider over its rivals when launched.
