Honda CB300F Discontinued!

Honda has been one of the most successful brands in India, gaining most of its success from its commuter segment’s bikes and scooters. However, the Japanese brand tried to enter the 200-300cc segment of bikes with the CB300R and the CB300F. Honda silently discontinued the CB300R last year due to poor sales figures and hefty competition. But now, the brand has also discontinued the CB300F and CB300F flex-fuel. We say so as the brand has taken the bike off its website. Honda was one of the few manufacturers to introduce a flex-fuel motorcycle, which was quite an innovative move.
We believe that Honda discontinued the CB300F due to poor sales. While the sales weren’t as poor as the CB300R, the CB300F wasn’t bringing in sales either. There is also a possibility that Honda may launch an updated version of the discontinued model, but that seems less likely. The Japanese brand has not really enjoyed success in the segments above 200cc, which is understandable considering the very tough competition and existing players who have cemented their positions. So, it is likely that Honda won’t bring back the CB300F along with its flex-fuel version, which is a shame considering it was compatible with E85 (85% Ethanol, 15% Petrol) fuel. So, what was so great about this bike?

What Else?

Well, the Honda CB300F wasn’t really the most powerful bike or the most feature-rich, the best looking or the most value for money. But it was one of the most refined bikes, backed by Japanese reliability and nimble, flickable handling. It gets all the essential features like dual-channel ABS, USD front forks, all-LED lighting, a USB charging port and a few more. At the heart of the matter is a 293.52cc engine producing 24bhp and 25.6 Nm of torque along with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike was priced around Rs 2 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), offering decent value for money along with Honda reliability and refinement.
