Best Selling Petrol SUVs – Maruti Fronx
Rs 8.01 lakh to Rs 14.09 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)


Maruti Fronx petrol has been the people’s choice, ranking as the best-selling petrol SUV in FY2026. It is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine (88bhp & 113Nm), a 1.0-litre petrol CNG engine (76bhp & 98Nm), and a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (98bhp & 147Nm), paired with a 5-speed MT, AMT, and 6-speed AT gearbox setup.
The SUV has an ARAI claimed mileage of 22.89 kmpl and 21.79 kmpl for the non-turbo and turbo petrol mills, respectively. In CNG guise, it delivers a claimed mileage of 28.51 km/kg, becoming a good choice for your city and highway runs.

Maruti Brezza
Rs 9.62 lakh to Rs 15.31 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)


Maruti Brezza is the second-best-selling petrol SUV in FY2026. Both Maruti SUVs are ranked among the best sellers because they are powered only by petrol engines. The Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol (101bhp and 139Nm) and a 1.5-litre petrol CNG (86bhp and 121Nm). Gearbox options include a 5-speed MT (for both) and a 6-speed AT (for non-CNG models).
Talking about the claimed mileage, the Maruti Brezza delivers a claimed mileage of 19.8 kmpl in the non-CNG variant and a claimed mileage of 25.51 kmpl in the CNG variants.

Hyundai Creta
Rs 12.82 lakh to Rs 24.48 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)


Achieving the feat of being the best-selling SUV last year, the Hyundai Creta is also the third best-seller in terms of petrol SUVs. In petrol guise, the Creta is powered by a 1.5-litre NA petrol (113bhp and 143Nm) and 1.5-litre turbo petrol (158bhp and 253Nm), paired with a 6-speed MT (both), iVT (only NA petrol) and 7-speed DCT (only turbo petrol).
The Hyundai Creta delivers ARAI claimed mileage of 17.7 kmpl and 18.4 kmpl in the non-turbo and turbo petrol guises, respectively.

Tata Punch
Rs 6.64 lakh to Rs 12.17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)


The Tata Punch is currently available only in petrol powertrains in ICE setup, making it rank fourth on the list of best-selling petrol SUVs. This Tata compact SUV is currently powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine (87bhp and 115Nm), 1.2-litre petrol CNG (73bhp and 103Nm), and a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (118bhp and 170Nm), paired with a 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT and a 6-speed MT (turbo petrol only) gearbox setup.
While Tata has yet to reveal the mileage data for the Punch, we expect the SUV to deliver around 15 kmpl and 12 kmpl for the non-turbo and turbo petrol mills, respectively. However, with CNG, we expect the mileage to be around 23-24 km/kg.

Hyundai Venue
Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15.82 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)


The Hyundai Venue ranks as the fifth best-selling petrol SUV in India. The model is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine (81bhp and 115Nm) and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (118bhp and 172Nm), paired with a 5-speed manual (only for non-turbo), 6-speed manual, and 7-speed DCT (only for turbo) gearbox units.
In petrol guise, the Hyundai Venue delivers an ARAI claimed mileage of 18.05 kmpl and 20 kmpl in non-turbo and turbo petrol guise, respectively.
