Tata Sierra AWD Happening?

The Sierra has finally made a comeback years after it was first shown as a concept. A major easter-egg was the presentation slide showing Sierra with AWD functionality, even though it might take some time to come – but still the presentation suggests it is on the cards.

It is still not clear whether the all-wheel drive system will be made available with which engine and gearbox combination.  The Tata Sierra is currently powered by a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (104bhp & 145Nm), a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (158bhp & 255Nm) and a diesel engine (116bhp & 280Nm) mated to a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AT and 7-speed DCA gearbox unit.

There’s a high probability of it being introduced with the turbo petrol or diesel engine. So, what’s in the box is still a surprise.

Now, many might believe that Tata might introduce the 2.0-litre diesel engine from Harrier / Safari for AWD trims. But, it seems very unlikely as of now. Why? The new engine will surely increase the final cost making its price a bit unfair. And as a result many might not buy the AWD Sierra.
