Upcoming Tata 7-Seater – What’s New?

Did Tata give out an easter egg of its upcoming 7-seater at the Sierra’s launch event? That’s what we have seen in the presentation. The presentation hinted towards a new 7-seater SUV that will be developed on the new ARGOS architecture.

At the Sierra’s launch event, Tata Motors revealed its new platform – ARGOS. According to Tata, it is  a new multi-energy SUV platform built for real capability, strong safety and efficient space use. The platform supports multiple body styles, wheelbases and petrol, diesel, CNG and hybrid powertrains, along with FWD and AWD setups.

That said, it’s currently unclear as if this new 7-seater will be an all new model or it might be the 3-row version of Sierra itself. We expect things to unfold eventually. Apart from that, this model might also get an All-Wheel-Driver (AWD) version too. Even the Sierra is suggested to get the AWD configuration very soon.

What To Expect

Now, what all things Tata will include with its 7-seater model is still unclear at the moment. Though we expect the model to share its dimension details with the Sierra. For starters, the Sierra’s wheelbase is just 10mm lesser than the Safari / Harrier.

Moreover, it is not yet known if this platform could be elongated as Tata already has the Omega architecture positioned just above it underpinning the Harrier & Safari. So, at present, we just expect the model to have the same wheelbase as the Sierra. However, this SUV might be lengthy than the Sierra and will lose some boot space considering the 3rd row seating capabilities. On the inside, we again expect this 7-seater model to offer the same suite of features like the Sierra.

Under the hood, expect the same trio of 1.5-litre – NA petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines to do the job. Now, if the launch of this SUV takes some more time, then we think Tata might introduce the hybrid powertrain setup. However, the details are just speculations as of now. But in the short time, we are expecting some more details to be revealed by the brand. Regarding pricing, the SUV will be positioned below the Safari in brand’s lineup, so expect it to be priced between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 27 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
